My little browndogg is about to tear my dam house down!!

She has eaten through my colapsable crate, a hole in the plastic crate, scratched the paint from the front door, and just today she chewed the HELL out of the door jam!!!

I'ma gonna KILL her!!!

What can I do to straighten this all out?

She will not do this while I am home, I have tried to stand outside wait till she does it then zappherass, but it won't happen.
I live in an apartment (townhouse), and the neighbors like to like to hang out on he front porch we share. I think maybe this excites her, and she just goes NUTS!!!

Do y'all dogg people have any ideas?

Can you suggest a crate she can't destroy, that won't cost me an arm and a leg?

How old is she? I can tell you that dixie chewed the bejesus out of everything until she was three. You cant believe what she can do to a can, bowl, shoe, football, baseball, baseball glove and golf ball.

I will defer to the more seasoned dog people but I found that taking her out everyday and working with her helped alot. Especially when I hunted her. She still chewed the chit out of stuff but just not as much.

she'll be 4 in March.

She does not shew anything else except the occassional dish rag. Knock on wood...no shoes, belts, bowls, furniture, etc.

only the crates when she is in them; after she is out, she is fine.

recently she has been getting extremely wound up when I try to leave in the morning. The more I beat her or correct her, the more excited she gets.

If I pull her aside and do a couple of quick OB drills (ie heel, sit, laydown, etc) she does them excitedly. Like she thinks we are going hunting.

sometime after I leave, she goes nuts!

I forgot to mention earlier, if I leave the mini blinds closed, she thinks it is funny to rip them to pieces. WTF!!

I need a bomb shelter to lock this little biotch in.

Any ideas?

p.s. as I type this she is laying under my feet, being the absolute best dogg you could ever imagine. When I am home, she is a dream.

try putting her in one of them port-a-kennels or whatever they are called while gone. I don't think she can tear one of them up. Might need to give her a good shot of benadryl or cough syrup before you leave.

Put a CD in a player on repeat that has you saying loudly get in here or sit down or stop it or whatever in a gruff voice every 5 minutes and leave it on all day.

Get rid of the brown dog and get you a black dog.

Go get the metal cage at Wal Mart or such place. It has a heavy duty plastic bottom, but they can't get to the lip of it.

Depending on size from 65 to 79 dollars.

That or a muzzle!!!

my dog was the same way, it has to do with them missing you. this rebellion is her way of being stressed because you are gone. work her alot during the day and leave her some chew toys.

we work hard every day! She will not touch the chew toys while I am gone, she will not even eat her food while I am gone.

This morning she stayed between me and the door. I BEAT THE HELL out this little dog. She would not let me between her and the door. She will not break. The more I beat her, the more excited she gets. I cannot make her want to be away from me.

I think this all started not long after it got cool enough for her to go everywhere with me. during the weekends she goes EVERYWHERE I go, and during the week she doesn't understand.

I am going to get one of them HEAVY duty wire crates today. Hopefully that'll cure it. I think a new crate is the answer.

Oh, and she won this morning. She is in the truck, laying in the crate she ripped the door off of. I know, I know I just set myself back, but it was either that or have to replace the entire door jam...

I just reread that, it sounds like I abuse this little dog. Not the case, she probably get treated better and is loved more than some of your kids. When she does right, I act like she is queen and praise and pet her.

She was trained mainly on praise, and correction was not introduced until I was sure she would willingly take a command.

You can definitely ruin a dog by whipping them...... I guess you are just gonna have to make her your seeing eye dog and carry her every where u go?????

Are you using this type kennel? I have found them to be the most secure.


For dogs with separation anxiety, sometimes Dog Appeasing Pheromones can be helpful.

I ain't beating this dogg like you see those outlaws on tv, but I try to get my point across.

Beating the dog will not solve anything. At age 4, a simple "no" lets her know she's done wrong. You're compounding the problem by "beating" her. I understand you've recanted and said that you don't abuse her, but if you are acting distressed, the dog will take your cue.

IMO, the best solution is to buy that crate that doesn't allow her to chew through. Go back to your basics of training the dog to be steady and keep training light and fun.

Worst case scenario, she me have some behavioral psyche problems and I'm no expert there, but they are available...
