Talked to a buddy of mine that just got back from North Dakota duck hunting. They absolutely smoked em. This was their first trip ever to the dakotas.

the kicker is they did not go with a guide service. they went on there own and got permission from land owners to hunt their fields. he said they ask 11 different land owners permission to hunt their field or pot hole and 10 of them said yes.

Try that in mississippi. Most around here wont even let you sneak snow geese in there fields much less set up a spread..

o well i guess that just one of those things..

There must not be any lawyers or law suits in North Dakota; or a market for leasing their land.

Sounds like the Mississippi delta back in the 60s and early 70s before duck huntin became a "cool" thing ta do.

It was like that around here in the early 80's. I have walked up to a many a house and asked permission to hunt. Almost all the time they said I could.

Too much $$$$$ involved now.

it was that way when I was a growing up around here, until duck hunters with more money than they had sense starting buying and leasing the land up. It is no telling what a duck costs if you figured up how much money is spent toward duck hunting per hunter vs how many ducks a hunter kills a year. The price of duck meat is extremely high.

The difference between here and north dakota is that a typical land owner here only owns 1000 acres more or less. A typical land owner up north or out west owns 200,000acres more or less. Also there are less people per acre up in those areas. So land is a less popular commodity in lower populated areas.

damn ooser's oh well there goes the neighborhood. i hunted north dakota a couple of years ago and had the same experiance. they don't seem to be as accomodating to people from wisconsin and minnesota. don't ask me why. they just don't like em.

Well, now everybody that has internet access now knows that it's easy to get permission to hunt private land in N Dakota. I'm sure your buddy will be real appreciative of you when he goes back up there next year and he's 4th in line waiting to hunt the property behind all the folks you alerted to the ease of access to private land up there. Got any GPS coords of public holes in MS you wanna share?
