Another pretty sunrise.......

Image

Close, but not quite close enough.........Image

We had to guess where they would fly-out......I misjudged by 20 yds. If we had been on the other side of the 'gap' in the treeline (40yds farther to the right), we'da been in perfect position. Sometimes you get lucky and guess right. Not today. Still a pretty sight and the approaching honking gets your blood going. I heard'em coming down the chute and picked-up the camera when I realized they were sliding too far to get a shot with the guns.

There'll be another day. It just makes it all the sweeter when you 'DO' get it 'right'.

Oh yeah........here's the obligatory Team Anatidae 'Field Staff' photo.........

Good observation. Actually, this photo was taken in January........back when the Avery 'Pro-Staff' journal entries started appearing. I had this in mind when we took the photo....just never got around to using (abusing) it, 'til now.......   I intend to have more 'fun' with it, in the future. I hope my friends that work with Avery can take it OK. :? Lotta good folks over there......but I'm my own product tester and 'Field Staff'........and don't feel compelled to list what kind of toothpaste I used, the day of the hunt.

The biggest thing is........you never see a hunting report with a list of products used (to attribute your lack of success to) when you don't kill anything.......only when you have something to show, that's 'impressive'.

I thought we'd try a different approach, to show that we had a 'successful' hunt and didn't fire a shot.

It's not about the 'STUFF' you use.......it's how you use it.......realizing that even with the best knowledge and equipment, you're STILL liable to come home without any birds.........big deal!

Equipment is nice, but being able to appreciate nature (in spite of the masses' obcession with 'stuff' - and having 'stuff' crammed down our throats) is my key to success (in waterfowling). Hunts like this will pay big dividends in the future, 'cause you don't learn anything if you don't go.

Thanks........but really, I'm at the point in this construction project where I'm a zombie in real life.......liable to reach in the drawer and use anything in a tube, for toothpaste.

I did something the other day that was really strange....but funny......now I can't remember what it was......but it was something like putting shaving cream on my toothbrush  ......or something about like that. I just had to laugh. :?

Thanks, Scott......BTW, I see your folks on a weekly basis over here. Glad they seem to be doing well and glad 'Duke' has gotten out to the Gun Club a few times, recently.

I like the 'equipment used' section. Very useful for the average, everyday hunter.
