Laugh if you want, but Rutland is the real deal. Unbelievable arm strength, just makes a few "freshmen" throws now and then. If State could get a few decent JC linemen, you would see some amazing things next year........but we'll probably be calling him "Ramblin Rutland" because he is probably going to be running for his life the next few years.

I don't want to go the Johnny Juco route again, a la Sherrill and Dunn. We've got like 5 or 6 on the team now that aren't shat but were all world in juco.

You make some good points and I agree. Rutland's issues definately aren't physical. He just needs to learn the offense and gain experience. He did make some good plays and had at least 3 passes that hit the receivers right in the hands....those are critical for a young QB to gain a little confidence.

I liked the looks of rutland too. He's got the athleticism but the jury's still out on his brainpower..........reminds me of a quote from that movie, I forget which........."He's young, dumb and fulla cum".......but definately a step up from connor.
