I recently ran across some 2 3/4 inch steel loads on clearance sale. They are Remington Express steel, 1 1/8 ounce shot, 1365 fps. I was wondering if any of you have ever shot a 2 3/4 inch shell for ducks. Would it be adequate? It looks to me like they have decent velocity but they will have a little less shot. I can get them in 1, 2, 3, and 4 shot and I can get them for $4.94 a box. Are they worth fooling with and which size shot would you get if they are? Thoughts???

I hunt with a 20 Guage. So a 2 3/4 12 guage would be a step up for me...

Driveby, jump on them. A 2 3/4 in shell is plenty for a duck.
This year will be the first year in MANY that I have not shot 2 3/4 in shells.

I used to shoot my old Browning A5 Light 12ga and 2 3/4 is all it would shoot. And i would regulary out shoot 3 1/2 inch guys in the same blind.

I found them at Dick's Sporting goods in Birmingham Al. I bought 2 each of the 3's and 4's yesterday and was thinking of buying more at that price. They have several cases. Dick's is a large chain like Academy so you might be able to find the same deal over your way.

All I shoot at ducks is 2 3/4" 3's, have done that for about 20 yrs. now and I've had decent sucess with them. Of course I can't shoot, so if I miss I know it's not my shells, but the idiot pulling the trigger.

Until 3 years ago, I never shot anything but 2 3/4, #2's. I could fill this room with the ducks I shot through the years with that ole Rem. 1100! Get em in close and you won't tell the difference.

close over decoys, i don't think you'll have problems. Before he moved to TX, I killed ducks with a fella shot 2-3/4 inch 4s exclusively with no complaints.

Same here Driveby, my bud and I used to shoot 2 3/4" 12ga #2's in a Drylock and we had great results with them with our 870's. Oh yeah, we used factory Remchokes in Imp Cly. Most of the birds we were shooting were inside 35yds. The loads your talking about in 3's and 4's would be great for shooting timber holes and swamps were the shooting is close.
