The Clarion-Ledger
OXFORD — Ole Miss signee Jerrell Powe has been denied eligibility by the NCAA Clearinghouse, the school announced today.
“Jerrell will be sorely missed by the Ole Miss Rebel football team,†coach Ed Orgeron said in a statement released by the school.
A 6-3, 330-pound defensive lineman from Waynesboro, Powe originally signed with Ole Miss in 2005, but attended Hargrave Military Academy where he played last season. He re-signed with the Rebels last February.
At Wayne County High, Powe was a Clarion-Ledger Dandy Dozen and All-State selection his senior season. He was also a Parade All-American and played in the U.S. Army All-America Bowl in San Antonio, Texas.
