I was truly upset when I heard about the death of Paul Eeels but I really didnt know how badly he was missed until I went back home to Arkansas this weekend. I tried to visit as many people as I could and It was like this.....First question was "How's ya Momma 'nem?" and the next was "I guess you heard we lost Paul Eels?" . It was a topic of conversation with everyone I saw. The phrase "Touchdown Arkansas" will never quite sound the same.
It is really different to go back there and be in a state where everybody is for 1 team. Its a lot different than Mississippi where evryone is split.
I knew Eels death was a big deal but it just kinda hit home this weekend. Real bad deal, never know when you are gonna go. Make sure you got your stuff in order. Not preachin, just sayin!

I grew up in North Carolina, where you have loyalty to potentially 5 schools (Duke, NC State, NC, Wake, East Carolina). I went to school in Mississippi......we'll we all know about that rivalry. I did have the pleasure of living in Arkansas for 3 years, and I have to say it was really neat to live in a place where they only pull for 1 team. There was no question....when you met someone on the street the question wasn't "who do you pull for"...the discussion immediately went to the hogs. Football Saturdays, most places of business in Hot springs had the game playing in some fashion....really is a neat experience.
