Just put together a chain link kennel for my Dogs. 7.5' x 13'. I put the SunBlocker top on it and set it off to the side of my house. I am wondering if this will enough shade to keep the Dog cool during the Summer months?

Also looking at putting a floor in the kennel for the winter months. What types of floors do you all have in your kennels.. I want to be able to move the kennel around in the yard, so I really don't want to use concrete...Any other suggestions?

I used 5/4' decking. I would much rather have a slab but that's not an option where I'm at right now, but the next one will definitly be a slab.

You can buy that flooring that comes in squares that has small holes in it to drain the water. I had it in one of my kennels. worked great, you can make it any size or move it around, check pet smart or one of the mags. for it I forgot the name.

works really well in winter cuz it drains the water well

I use 6" crushed rock surrounded by railroad ties and wire underneath, make sure the majority of it is above ground and you wont have a problem with drainage.
It conditions thier pads consistantly and is great for thier nails, I think the dogs love it.
Conrete promots cracking on the edges of thier pads and is bad for kennel sores. Its also cheap

Thats whats Aussies call it, not sure what you yanks do.
oops gotta be caredull about who i call a yank round here

Any rock will do, the sharper the better, order it delivered from a local supplier go see it, and make sure it has little dirt and is cleaned fairly well
