THat was intresting, I guess that is how it was done with the plaid shirt in the old days.

I finally bought into that concept last year and got some natgear. I'm pretty happy with it although it cost me a little ribbing from a couple of diehard M.O. hunting buddies.

In the last couple of years I have done a great deal of training with military S.F. and other groups of law enforcement in my line of work. I can tell you that from what I have learned this guy is exactly correct. That is the primary reason for the ghillie suit. While color is important in full light, breaking the human shape is the most important thing, however not everyone wants to walk around the woods looking like sasquach! Remember though the best camo in the world cant out-do a shadow. A few hundred thousand years ago man emerged as the most dominant predator on the planet and remains that to this day. Therefore everything on the food chain below us is genetically programmed to recognize our shape as a threat. This includes other humans. At some point in our lives all of us have been caught in a place we thought might put us in danger (downtown Memphrica after a Redbirds game). Every time you round a corner you probably were looking for a PERSON that might attempt to do you harm. Just my opinion but mossy oak break-up is the worst stuff there is due to the large amount of black in the pattern. Natgear is my favorite because it just works. Its not near as attractive as the name brand stuff but works alot better. Key things to remember are not to silhouette yourself against the skyline, stay out of direct light, keep a low profile (not standing straight up), use the darkest shadows available, try not to look like a human!

Well, I went to the site, read the entire article, looked carefully at all the pics, and I totally agree with what they say. Totally. Am I going to purchase? NO. Reason why? Because it's ugly. I like my Mossy Oak just fine. I can't even count all the deer that I've killed bow hunting in the last 20 years while wearing it. But I do agree with the article. And the main-stream hunter will most likley do the same....

This is the reason I preferred the original MO "Bottomland" pattern. It was not cluttered with sticks and leaves and blended better, breaking up the hunters outline. The new MO patterns (Breakup, Treestand, etc.) appear darker at a distance and do not break up your outline as well. Wish MO would bring back the "Bottomland" pattern and make it available in the new high tech clothing.

Until then, I think I will go with NatGear for my future purchases of camo clothing. NatGear goes back to the basics with a versatile pattern designed to break up your outline in the open.

I looked at Ghillie suits pretty hard once. You can pretty much hide anywhere in plain sight with one of the high end ones the special forces guys use, with the leggings, etc. However, they are not necessarily designed for shotgun shooting, but more for sniping. I think a shotgun would hang up a lot with one. But, if you could find a way to clear out that right shoulder/side area a little, ducks look out!!!

(you'll see what Im talking about when you get there) They have the absolute best suits you can buy for the money! They make several variations for all types of use. I own one myself primarily use it at work, but it is DEADLY on the turkeys!

I've turkey hunted with a guy who wore the spring predator pattern. It worked really well I thought. All of my stuff is MO of course but I'm always looking for a new "outfit".
