And I want to know who's bs'ing who?

Radio interview with Zero from this morning state that Schaeffer will not be in Oxford until the fall.

Hmmmm..........I didn't know "coorespondence" classes were that hard.

Somebody's lying about this, just can't figure out who doing it. Is it Brent's mommy, or is it his sista's in law's baby's cousin's tracy that works in the admissions/transcripts dept at the community college.

Or maybe Zero doesn't have the Cali pull that he used to have at So Cal when he could get players "ready" for the first day of practice.

maybe you have nothing more to do than type messages with lots of laughing smileys on them....

Technically, he can't be coached until the fall, so what difference does it make :?:

Guess we're even, your QB got a broke toe and ours ain't enrolled in summer semester...

congrats...you brought forth yet another enlightening sports forum thread!

nobody's lying...... it's been said all along that he would be here in july at the earliest..... just because he won't enroll until the fall semester, does not mean that he won't show up in oxford in the next week-2 weeks and begin working out voluntarily......

Our QB is on the all-academic honor roll. What about yours?

I'm going to be straight up with you and all rebel fans. If y'all are putting all the hopes and dreams of a good season squarely on the shoulders of Brent Schaeffer, then my friend you and the entire rebel nation are in T-R-O-U-B-L-E !!!

Any player that gets kicked off Tennessee's team is trouble. Players can damn near get away with murder up there.

coach o was on the radio here in jackson this a.m. he stated that schaffer wouldn't be on campus until this fall.. whats this about the kid still having to take correspondence courses..

here's what bigwater thinks:: shcaffer is undoubtly a great talent.. any questions about schaffer have less to do with his physical abilities and more to do with his mental make-up...

i'm sure that any intellegent um fan.. has this thought somewhere in the back of their head.. schaffer was more or less kicked out of tenn.. you've got to be concerned when you think about that angle.. i mean we're talking about being kicked out of tenn.. need i say more..

come on guys, the kid went to school and was playing bigtime football..... did he go to class ? no, and that's no secret, but that's the reason for his scholastic issues..... there are no "mental capacity" problems, etc. On the contrary, most say he's actually a smart young man who just needed to grow up alot, hell all college kids do, he's definitely matured a great deal in the past year and a half... keep in mind, he was a full academic qualifier out of high school, and it really wasn't even close... this is just another example of an MSU fan that hates Ole Miss more than they love MSU, which is sad frankly.... Schaeffer will get here when he gets here and that's all that has basically been said for the past few months....... until then, yawn... it's all bullpup worthless internet clutter

If you knew half as much as you think you do about the situation and about the boy in general, then you'd have a very valid point....

And I am not putting hopes on him, however the fact is without him it's gonna be even worse, which is almost unfathomable at this point...

bigwater,

the correspondance courses pertain to enrollment into Ole Miss, not graduation from the JUCO..... by the way, Croom offered him as well.... hell, Gene's page thought they might get him once upon a time..... guess it's all sour grapes.

and GH22... you said your qb was on the all academic honor roll, what's this, the first in 10 years ? let's see, madkin.... no, connor....... no, who am i leaving out ?

The kid isn't as bad as many of you are wanting to make him out to be, he got into trouble at UT and kicking him off was as much to do with a quarterback controversy at UT as anything. You wanna tell me you've never gotten into a fight ? heck, you got the MSU 6 Mafia jumpin off duty police officers in starkghanistan and ole Slydawg gives em a slap on the wrist, and yall want to talk about Schaeffer's woes at UT, gimme a break. He was kicked off UT for the same misdemeanor charge that your players were sent to sensitivity training and made run a lap for......

Schaeffer was fully qualified, academically, out of high school, and signed with UT.

BS started as a true frosh for UT until a shoulder injury sindlined him and opened the door for Ainge. BS did not regain starting job that fall.

BS was dismissed from the UT team due to a misdemeanor assault charge arising out of a fight. (MSU fans should be very familiar with these types of charges).

BS was not an academic casualty at UT. He was a good student.

BS transferred to the Calf. Juco. In this process, and playing football for the JUCO, he had a good bit of catching up in his course work to graduate from the JUCO and gain eligibility at a Div. 1 school.

He graduated from the JUCO this summer. He is also taking two correspondence courses that he needs to satisfy entrance requirements to UM (this is in addition to graduating from the JUCO). This is not an NCAA clearinghouse matter, but a UM matter.

Coach O had hoped that BS would have those courses completed by the start of the second summer session at UM, so that BS could enroll at UM and start working out on his own with some of the other players.

Apparently, BS will not be through with those correspondence courses in time to enroll for second semester summer school. But, it appears that he will most likely complete the courses well before time to report for fall practice. UM and Coach O and BS expect that BS will be eligible to play this fall.

BS does NOT have a grade problem. And for all intents and purposes, should be a good student at UM. He is bright and very talented.

Yes, its is a negative that he will not be on campus, with the correspondence courses behind him, working out and throwing to his receivers during the second session of summer school.

But, once he completes these courses, nothing would prevent BS from coming on down to UM and working out on his own with the players. He does not have to be enrolled in summer school to do that. But, Coach O does not want him to do so until after he has taken care of these correspondence courses.

So, that is it, in a nutshell. Let the hysterics begin.

This sounds like a similar situation for awhile back..........Jerrell Powe. Is he eligible yet, btw?

Schaeffer and Powe would make great study buddy's.

BTW.....how many UM signees have yet to qualify for the fall? I'm pretty sure the number is still in the 8-10 range.

I would venture to say that over 75% of the players signed out of high school were given grades so they would pass grade to grade and play football. Full academic qualifier out of high school doesn't mean jack these days.

I know of one UM commit for next season that was failing 3 courses pretty badly going into final exams and was passed because he's the only offense on the football team and an Ole Miss recruit. The same grade adjusting that goes on in college goes on twice as bad in high school, just nothing is ever said about it. I can't tell you the number of times my mom has been asked by the coaching staffs over the years to pass their football players so they would get a look at a Div I school and continue to play in HS. She teaches health, and it's damn close to being the easiest class to pass in high school. Heck she could even give them the test questions and couldn't pass.

"Our QB is on the all-academic honor roll. What about yours?"

As ol broken toe Henig is being skull dragged flat on his back by a big USC DL in the season opener, we will hear him mutter: "But, I'm on the honor roll".

Y'all don't see where I'm going with this. Who cannot pass 6 hrs worth of core classes in a single summer session? Something fishy is going on and y'all know it.

Hell, think about it.........Dontae' Jones passed 36 hrs in CC summer school to become eligible. If that dumbarse can pass 36 hrs, then this one can easily pass 6 hrs due to transfer issues.

do you know jerrell personally ? not saying he's the brightest kid on the block, but people have to realize that Mississippi kids sometimes need to be motivated to try in school. Heck, i'd say 70 % of the public school system has never cracked a book, nor cared to make good grades, not decent grades, but good grades. They're worried about passing and playing football and that's it. By the way, Jerrell is set to be on campus for 2nd semester of summer school..

I would venture to say that over 75% of the players signed out of high school were given grades so they would pass grade to grade and play football. Full academic qualifier out of high school doesn't mean jack these days.

yea..... and these are the same Mississippi kids that slydawg recruited as well...

BTW.....how many UM signees have yet to qualify for the fall? I'm pretty sure the number is still in the 8-10 range.

actually... all but Rory Johnson, Aubrey McPhadden, and Brent Schaeffer(who will qualify shortly)... the rest will be here 2nd summer semester, so there goes that bullpup theory that while our class was good, noone would qualify

I know of one UM commit for next season that was failing 3 courses pretty badly going into final exams and was passed because he's the only offense on the football team and an Ole Miss recruit. I won't even go there given your proximity to a particular school system, I will say this, there was also a recruit this past year from that very same school who we backed off of becasue of grades, state kept recruiting for about 3-4 weeks after that, and i believe he ended up signing with memphis. I'm assuming you're talking about that school anyway, whether or not the commit you're talking about goes there, i do not know, however, you knowing he was failing 3 classes going into finals is a violation of privacy laws, and if you buy season tickets to MSU, that makes you a booster, which therefore is an NCAA violation....just thought i'd bring that up. And, by reading your post it's obvious that you're trying to say grade adjusting only goes on for Ole Miss, etc, I honestly hope you don't believe that Croom is doing everything "by the book" when it comes to recruiting, grades, etc.... Again, we're all recruiting the same players in Mississippi, the entire education system could use an overhaul, or at least give them coaches that give a damn about the kids getting qualified instead of just worrying about them in high school.....

his summer session didn't start until after June 10th. COS didn't get done till early june and graduation was June 10th. So they weren't on the same schedule as Mississippi schools.... If you're going to give him a full summer semester, then in theory he's got 2 more weeks...

Reb fans, we are going to have to excuse GH 22 on his temporary insanity (some could argue permanent, but why quibble). He is no doubt inflicted, yet again, with an annual recurring phenomenum that occurs within much of the MSU fan base ----"crowing season" --- an offseason period of delusions of grandeur and hystercial exaggeration of their rival's problems, complete with taunting and smack talk.

Nothing affects "crowing season" ---- the previous year's record, nor the result of the Egg Bowl ----makes no difference, except perhaps to the timing of crowing season. Usually it starts about signing day with claims of a Top 10 signing class and predictions of Pasadena or another BCS bowl. This year, it started a little later than usual, but still should be hitting fever pitch by the start of the first game.

Once the season starts, and delusions of grandeur fade into the horrors of reality, then crowing season is officially over. And at that point, GH 22 will only be able to cling to the hope of Rebel failure to soothe his pain. IF that does not occur, he will be conspicuously absent from the board ---in the same place that Big Gumbo goes every season when the inevitable occurs.

So, until crowing season is officially over, I recommend that Reb fans start drinking heavily.
