Honestly, I like our chances...
I know Miami is a successfull program in college baseball, in the past, however they were looked at as a down year and they got lucky!!!! Nebraska CHOKED!!!! Miami had to beat Manhattan and San Fran to get to the Super's. I mean, come on? Down year or not, that's mid-week games for a school like Miami or Nebraska's size, Nebraska just choked and gave it to Miami....we'll see how good Miami is or how hot they are when they play this weekend....

It will be a tough series ----one we will be fortunate to win, if we do.
A lot will depend on pitching matchups. I like our chances in the first game with Kline on the mound, regardless of who Miami piches. But, after that first game, we will need lots of runs to win. And if Miami has a lot of good left-handed pitchers, then they could keep us off balance offensively, especially the top of the normal batting order. IF Miami is not deep in quality lefties, then the Rebs should roll on to the CWS.
I think this may finally be the year. Why? Because NO ONE predicted it. I know I didn't. Up until the last SEC series against MSU, we had still not even settled into a regular weekend pitching rotation. Fortunately, our offense got untracked at the right time, along with the development of Kline into our ace, to get us into the SEC tourney with enough wins to have a shot at a regional with a good run. We got more than a good run ---winning the title ---- and got to host a regional ---more than I expected. NOW, it looks like we will host a Super Regional. This is almost unbelievable, looking back at this struggling team during the early part of the season.
After losing so many players to the draft and graduation last year, this season is for sure Bianco's best coaching job for the Rebs in his career. We continued to get better and better throughout the season, with Bianco showing a lot of patience with the development of our young players who are now making such a difference. No matter what happens in the SR, we have greatly exceeded all reasonable expectations going into and during the first half of the season. I am liking this team more and more. They seem to have a knack for the timely hit, or timely defensive play, etc. I can't say that they are more talented than last year's team, BUT they do seem to play better as a team, which is what it is all about.
There are no Ferris Trophy winners on the team, no post season 1st team AAs, no likley top 3 round draft choices, and only one 1st team ALL SEC. But, from top to bottom in the lineup, I like our mix of hitting, great fielding, adequate piching and team speed.

Well, there is a kicker here though...We may not have a single Top 3 round draft choice this season, however next year we'll be looking alot like last year on draft day!

Congrats all you Ole Piss fans!!! Good luck in the Supers!
Even though the other two MS teams didn't come out of the regionals we've had a nice representation from the state this year. 3 regional bids, a regional host, a #1 ranking, and more to be determined in Oxford. Not too bad for little ole Mississippi! Good luck Rebs!
