Big win for the Rebs to get things started on the right foot. With all the stolen bases given up by the Hogs, I guess that whiny, bad-acting catcher's arm must still be sore from that HBP a couple of weeks ago in Oxford.

WooooooPiiiiiiiiiiiigPhoooooooooey!!

Onward Rebels. Its Tigah time. :D

All of the lower seeds won yesterday, guess the higher seeds know something that the rest of us don't.......go 2 and out and rest up for regionals.

I tell you what was funny though. They didn't show the LSU game last night on tv in south la...........but showed the arkie-um game.

I think the LSU game was on in Baton Rouge...on that KZUP channel

I was pretty impressed with CSS coverage last night on COX Sports channel...CSS did a good job...

and even though we won, the umpiring in that game last night was PITTIFUL

well, Arkansas is still a better team than Ole Miss....

That's what I been hearing from Ark fans, since we beat em in Oxford and still even this morning.

Even though we've won 3-4 games and now have an equivalent record, they are still head and shoulders a better team and deserve solid national recognition over the Rebel for the 4th host spot. And for the reason, just because they do... :? Not sure I understand the thought process?

Bigwater, "you know who" will be back in full force after the regional announcements, or earlier if the Hogs should pull out a win at the SEC tourney to stay alive.

We will be blessed with more Hog homerism, photos and descriptions of Baum , and glowing prognostications ---more than we deserve.

The only problem with that theory is that 2 of the higher seeds are now even with the # 5 seeded team in terms of wins/losses and RPI..... Certain teams needed to get some wins to A. ensure getting a host spot, or B. earn a host spot. And so far, the B's have done their job.

With regard to the regional host issue, I still think the Rebs need another win or two to make a serious push for consideration. Since we have hosted the past two years, we need to be clearly separated from other contenders. If really close, a site that has not hosted in a while, or one that could generate even more attendance than ours, may instead get the nod.

Of course, by winning more of the early non-conference games that the Rebs lost to inferior low RPI opponents (ISU, Murray State, Arkansas State, etc.), we would likely not even be having this discussion, as the Rebs would have had 40+ regular season wins and be a lock for hosting at this point. But, we dug our own hole, and will just have to take what we get. I don't think we are in much of a position to "demand" or "expect" anything other than a regional bid.

The flip side is that we probably lost a lot of those early non-conference games due to experimenting on the mound and in the field with young players who needed PT and who Bianco felt we would need to come around in order for us to even have a chance later in the season to play above .500 in SEC play. He obviously felt that getting PT for some key players to develop needed depth for down the road, was more important than going all out to win those early NC mid-week games. Sticking with Will Kline after several bad outings is one great example of that. If Bianco had benched Kline (like I and many other Reb fans thought that he should have) prior to his "break out" game against MSU in the Mayor's Trophy game, where would we be now? Probably sitting at home watching the SEC tournament.

I had fairly low expectations coming into this season, due to all the starters, especially pitchers, that we lost to the draft and graduation. But, the young talent on the team has continued to develop and get better as the season has progressed, expecially at the plate, and to a lesser degree on the mound. Our pitching is now decent enough to win, as long as we score at least 5-8 runs per game. Anything less than that type of run production, and we struggle. That will surely improve as our young ptiching staff gains experience. But, right now, that is our reality. Thank goodness, our hitting has been very good, and our base running very solid with lots of speed. Defense has been very good as well. All of these things we do very well, help mask to some degree our pitching weaknesses. I am pleasantly surprised with this team this year.

Now, we need to beat the LSU Tigers tonight and stay in the winner's bracket, so we can take off Friday to rest.

I'm going to pull against you tonight Pomonk. But I don't think the Tigers will pull it out.

I think you are wrong Po Monk...

I think it is down to us and Ark and maybe even both of us now the Kentucky went 0-2...but beside that...

Before this tournament, it was down to us and Ark getting the believed 4th and final SEC host. Well, we got the same conference record, they are one game better overall and we beat their tails 3 games to 1 this season. I don't care about any other year, we've earned it in my opinion. But, considering the NCAA, Kentucky has screwed themselves, b/c they could easily justify giving Ole mIss and Ark a regional host and sending Kentucky to a big host as the #1 seed since Kentucky averages less than some small universities in baseball attendance.

Keep in mind, Ole Miss had the HIGHEST attendance of any regional in America last year. Don't believe that doesn't play a factor. We beat LSU and Arkansas loses today, I believe we host for sure...if we lose and Ark wins and then we beat them out Friday, we get a host...we make it to Sat. period, we host...we are 17 & 18 in RPI without last nights win...

"I think you are wrong Po Monk... "

I hope that I am. But, if we keep winning, we can control our own destiny to a large degree and will both be right.

But, without another "W", I just don't trust the selection process to go out of its way to "give" UM a break on anything. Last year we got hosed with the UM-Texas pairing in the Super Regional ---that was a matchup that should have occurred at the CWS. And remember who is in charge of the selection committee.

If UM couldn't take care of Texass in the SR's, then what makes you think that the matchup should've taken place in the CWS?

How did you get hosed? If you can't play with the big boys don't invite them into your backyard. I guess you're saying that UM got hosed because Texass should've been a national seed? The NCAA didn't see it that way, lucky that UM received a national seeding.

That's like the NCAA matching up LSU vs. Tulane in the SR, even though it should've possibly been a CWS matchup.

I don't know who you are referring to being in charge of the selection committee, but LT is the chair this season, wasn't last year.

LT says he will have to leave the room when MSU is brought up for selection, but I say that if MSU doesn't receive a bid with him being the chair, his booty shouldn't be allowed back in vegas for eternity.
