Thoughts on W

I figure that most of ya'll are conservative like myself and voted for W twice. What are your thoughts on him currently and his presidency as a whole? I saw that his approval rating is at 29% right now.
I think his admin has done a good job with the economy but so did Clinton with the help of a Republican Congress. I like his stance on terror, but I think we are going about it in the wrong way. I think his weakness on border security is a threat to the US as we know it and can't for the life of me figure out why he has acted or not acted like he has. If nothing else, I am happy he was in office to nominate what we hope are two conservative SC justices, although most any Rep. in the White House could have done the same thing. All in all, I think his term has been a failure because he tries to appease the masses as opposed to doing what is right. The alternatives of Kerry or Gore are not true alternatives. There has to be a qualified conservative that is not a career politician out there who could do a superior job. I just haven't heard of him yet. Maybe it is one of ya'll. Mudsucker and Po Monk might make a nice tandem for Pres and VP.

I think that in 20 years we will look back on this and give him more credit that he is getting now. Similar to the Reagen administration who took a lot of heat during his presidency, but is not looked upon as a great president. I am not sure W will reach that status. I believe the one thing that he has going for him is that he will take a stance and stick to it no matter what the public opion is. Unlike Clinton who tried to appeas the polls.
On the big issues that everyone is talking about here are my opions...
Iraq- We should have gone in and I am glad we did...Sure the intelligence may have been off and no WMD were found, but I am not so sure that this was W's only focus. If you think back to his speach on the axis of evil he said Iraq, Iran, and North Korea were our biggest threats... So he chose to go into Iraq (the easiest to justify and enter) and now we have our troops right next door to Iran...And I don't care how crazy you are, having 250,000 US troops and a soon to be US Trained Iraqui army next door to him has got to make the Iranian Leader think twice before doing something stupid. So we took out 1 threat (Iraq) and have a base for soliders next to the 2nd threat.
Immigration - Being from South TX, I know this issue pretty well. Everyone is saying what a bad idea amnisty is... Well Reagan did it back in the 80's and I am assume it is going to happen again. I can see the bennefits of both ways. Leagalize them and make them pay taxes, or crack down on the companies hiring them and make them go back for lack of jobs...I think it is a wash either way, but they need to stop any more of them from coming in without a doubt.
War on Terror - We have not had another attack since 9-11. So that is a pretty good record.

i think that we should have had someone assassinate saddam hussein instead of starting this stupid war. kill their damn leaders and get it over with. that would show them their next hitlerish dictator will be taken care of in the same fashion. would you want to step up to the plate after hussein got his brains blown out by one of our snipers...i think not. same thing with osama. also i think that he/us should take every bit of oil in equal dollars to the amount of money we have spent over there. call it reparations if you will. yes...yes....it would make a lot of people angry if we did this. but we are the u.s. and every other country around the world hates us anyway. so, why not keep our gas prices under 2 dollars and still have people mad at you.....works for me. you know it costs opec $4 dollars to market and produce 1 barrel of oil. that will make you sick...huh. bush is an idiot and he has done a piss poor job for the majority of his presidency. could i have done any better without going to jail....probably not. just my opinion.

I think another benefit of the war in Iraq is actually forming a battle field against an army of no real affiliation outside of a religion that wears no uniform. The battle ground is far away from our soil and preoccupies the wackos away from us stateside.
I have come to the conclusion that oil prices are pretty much out of W's control.
The guy has shown some sack, although it is a fine line between showing some sack and showing some stupidity. If you are going to be dumb, you gotta be tough and he appears to be tough and resilient.

Can you imaging the crap / pressure he has to put up with on an hourly basis ???
Heck, I thought my career was tough when the market fell like crazy and i had to inform clients that their financial security was a little unstable.
Can you imagine having to face the parents of dead soldiers ? (which he often does)
The b.s. political games & lies from both parties ?
Knowing a whole army of towel-heads would gladly commit suicide to kill him ?
At least you know where he stands, that he says what he means (right or wrong), and he doesnt wear his wife's panties.... unlike Slick Willie before him.
The boy has some serious testicles -- to do what he does on a daily basis, for 8 years.

I was waitin' on Po' Monk to get in this and ya'll start fussin' about whose gonna be Pres. and VP
W is supposed to address the nation Monday night. The pundits are saying it will be about immigration and that he is putting troops on the border.
I think he got some bad intel on Iraq and now we can't get out. We've got some big problems now with N. Korea and Iran and we are stretched to thin.
We are spending money like crazy and getting in debt doing it. 10 to 20 years from now whoever is Pres. and in Congress is going to take the blame.

I'll use this opportunity to announce my official candidacy for the 2008 presidential campaign. Thanks for the nomination Delta.
We will campaign on this platform:
Foreign Policy: Speak more softly, mind our own business, carry a big frickin stick, and woe be unto the SOB who calls down the thunder.
Illegal Immigration: It will stop. Barrier with armed patrols and high tech surveillance equipment. Huge fines and jail time for employers who hire them. Legal worker program to allow for background checks and approval before entry into the country. Round up the illegals that still stick around after the jobs available to them dry up.
Foreign Aid: It will all stop (with exception of natural disaster assistance), with reinstatement only to those countries who provide some mutual benefit to the US. No more giving to those who hate us and want to kill us, and offer nothing in return (includes those wretched Palestinians).
Taxes. Adopt the fair tax plan outlined in the recent bestselling book on the topic.
Economy. Keep taxes as low as possible and keep on keepin on.
Ag policy. Smart, efficient use of subsidies to help all farmers, not just the big corps, and also protect and conserve our natural resources.
Energy: We will drill the available oil in the US, even if the govt. must subsidize the explorationa and drilling. We will use our trade and economy to leverage favorable deals with oil producing countries. And develop alternative energy sources.
Sounds like a winning ticket to me.
