Off Season Wing-shooting challenge

Postby landscaper » Tue Jun 11, 2002 7:35 pm

You guys are gonna think I've lost my mind or reverted to my childhood or something, but I got so tickled at myself that I thought I should share this with someone.

I got bored this evening and was aching for something to do, so I go out my old BB gun and headed for the back yard. You want to do something that will really humble you and put your shooting skills to the test? Try shooting lightning bugs with a lever action Daisy! I had a ball and plan to try again a few more times. Give it a shot and post your record! BB guns only.

My results for tonight:
2 Lightning bugs
1 cripple
1 misfortunate ant

Effective range seems to be 4'- 12'. I hunted for about thirty minutes.

If you think I've lost it, just ignore me. If not go out and have a little fun acting like a kid!

I though I was the only one who did that. I started by trying to keep the birds out of my garden, which did not take long, and I got bored and started popping lightning bugs. I have never kept up with how many I got, but I will tomorrow. I will let you know. Your results are impressive.

Could you decoy them with Christmas lights?

Actually sounds kind of fun to me, and cheaper than sporting clays!

I have a large contingent of Bumble Bees(wood bees)in my back yard. This is real sport as they hardly ever stay still. Wasps are the next victim. This is a blast with a Crossman 760.
It's deadly!

Get you an old Daisy and remove the sights so you don't get the bad habit of aiming, shoot instinctive! You will be surprised how well you can shoot this way! A shooting instructor suggested that this is the way to introduce youngsters to shooting.
