It just isn't the same since they went to three day games instead of the double header on Sat. and a singel game on Sun.

Polk always hated 7 inn games with a passion, main reason he pushed the fri-sat-sun series setup, which I happen to prefer.

Polk didn't push for 3 gates, the SEC did. It helps most teams with smaller attendances in the larger towns. We have a unique situation at State. Back when we played two on Saturday folks would drive in for the DH Saturday and spend the night, watch the Sunday game....you couldn't find a hotel room in Starkville. Now, folks from out of town have to spend two nights in a hotel......starts to get a little more expensive for us poor Mississippi Folks.

Well, Polk wanted the 3 day series so he could get more inn for the relievers plus having an extra day to rest up.
I always heard he was pushing it pretty hard along with Skip.
But the main reason it was done was because of $$$.

No question it was for money.....but I think it hurts Starkville / MSU more than it helsp from the $$$ standpoint.......but helps the other schools that have a largr fan base (bigger city) closer to their schools.

My bad big that was a typo It use to be a Fri night game and a double header on Sat. when I was little and let me tell you it was a fun day on top of the hill b/t games but now they have turned the hill into a paved parking lot
