I think Ole Miss outsmarted themselves......get in a double header on Saturday so "we" make sure we get the win against Vandy.....

I don't think it dealt with the "guaranteed" win, more or less dealt with being able to get in that 3rd game. UM figured they would win the Satterwhite game, but not game 3 since they are using pitch by committee. It was a damn good idea though by UM to go ahead and get that 3rd game in, only the 2nd time in SEC series history that it's happened, last time dealt with a snow storm in Kentucky. I wish the SEC would allow it more often, can remember several sun games that MSU has not gotten in over the yrs.

Well I can see thier point about the possible rain out on Sunday but the SEC has a rule about Double headers(you must get it approved before the weekend) and if they were going to let Ole Miss make the call late friday night then they should have sent a memo out to all other SEC school telling them that they could play 2 on Sat also. However if some teams in the west (MSU, Bama) get to play on Sun. and win it will come back and bite them in the ass

Polk would rather have the sat dh option than the usual sun option, because he hates 7 inn games with a passion.

I know and I was listening to the post game show and he said himself that the SEC did not let anyone know that they had the option of a dh until it was too late

GH - If Ole Miss was "pitching by comitte" for their third game, which I agree with.......wouldn't it be best for them to have a rain out? Ole Miss figured it was an easy win, they wanted to play. Tennesse did the oppisite to State last year, had a chance to get in all three games, but Tennesse only had two stud pitchers last year....we only played two games....get the picture...

The UT series last season got rained out on friday and saturday, no way we could've gotten in a game on either day, main reason we got stuck playing two 7 inning games on sunday, losing both 2-1.

I know they were "oficially" rained out, but the feedback I got was that Friday or Saturday (forget which day) was playable. It was in Tennessee's best interest to play two 7 inning games......pitching!
