I heard that one of the Gatis family from Memphis lost a 40 foot pleasure boat hitting a barge and that they still have not found the boat. The MS river is no place to play around.

Haven't found the boat or Mr. Gattis. He was the only one who didn't make it. The others made it. Something on the news like the boat quit and drifted out of the channel and into the river route. Very bad.

That gentleman has not been found yet. My guess is he is shark bait by now.

Witnesses say that his fatal mistake was pulling anchor BEFORE he started the engine. Nothing like a little pressure to make you flood the carb.

DN I agree with you 100% but when the Mighty Mississippi is up not even a life jacket will keep your head above water. Those whirlpools can be deadly.

It just looks so nice to see the high water of the Mississippi cleaned and filtered by the trees and grasses.

It just show what those buffer strips can do for the water quality.
