This just in:
The Oxford City Council has made an "offer" to The University that it will continue its contribtuion to the baseball stadium for 15 years. The contribution is $200,000 per year and will allow the administration to go ahead with the stadium expansion as planned. . . The $200K represents 12-15% of the tourism tax dollars taken in annually by the City of Oxford. . . The University is expected to agree on these terms.
This is great news. An already fine facility will get even better. Baseball in the SEC, and especially the Western Division, is perhaps the best in the country --- in terms of highly competitive teams and facilities.
However, I do not think the plans include hot tubs in the outfield ---so, I'm a little disappointed.

no hot tubs in the outfield, but those of us who have seen the plans and drawings of what it will look like all have one thing to say, impressive. Might not be the biggest after it's all said and done, but it will certainly be one of the nicest.

Does this stay or go?
Imitation is the finest form of flattery.
No really, it is good. I hate to see the rivals doing well in baseball, but nice facilities are really enjoyable.

Let me commentate
What we have here is a viable option to minor league baseball, the teams are intact for the entire year without getting raped and pillaged. The cost to see it is reasonable and appealing to, say, a family of four and its family friendy. Lets face it, college ball is fast paced and often exicting and high scoring, no ones taking a day off, the season is short enough that every game is important.
I'm glad Ole Miss is improving their place, Arkansas is doing the same again, front page of the media guide is the renderings that will get under way after this season, after this next round Ark will have spent over thirty million on Baum Stadium, WITHOUT ONE DROP OF TAX PAYER MONIES. I like plainsman park at Auburn. With all the new or updated stadiums in the league that rival or surpass many minor league parks I wish that the sec would rotate the conference tournament. Lets face it, Hoover is a step dwon in many instances when it comes to stadiums.
Give me the SEC West over the Texas League anyday.

They were moved in because of Head, Pettway and Wright trying to hit bombs. Even after they moved them in their park is just about the same as Dudy Noble.

because it was the largest park in the SEC..... they moved it in to be about the same size as everyone else.
