I just picked up over 100lbs of deer meat from The Outfitter, and if the smoked sausage is any indication, it was a good decision to take it there. BY FAR the best I've ever had!

Can't wait to try the baconburger and fresh sausage. The hamburger looks real good too, and I'm droppin 20lbs off at Tony's Monday ta have tamales made. Emmmmmmmmmm!!! :D :D :D

I agree w/ ya. Have 60 lbs of sausage in the freezer. I think it's the Outfitter's Special recipe or something. They had it at the Rankin DU banquet. Mighty fine and real quick.

I will say that Rocky's crew makes the best sausage.

Heck, it almost took an act of congress to keep Ronny from the sample table that Rocky had setup, had to almost fight for one bite.

This is where I screwed up. Having never used them, I didn't know if they were really any good, so I decided ta go heavy on the burger, and only had 10lbs of smoked and 10lbs of fresh sausage made. The upside is that I still have about 80 - 100lbs of hind quarters in the freezer, so when the sausage runs out, I can have more made.

When I dropped it off, the guy said it would be 2 - 3wks before it was ready. I wasn't in a hurry, so it didn't matter, but he called me less than a week later and said my order was ready, so I'm gonna give em two thumbs up in the time catagory too!

Sportsman, I work down at The Outfitter. I am glad you liked your sausage. When you get the hind quarters done, get you some jap and cheese smoked sausage.. It is just as fine as the Outfitter smoked sausage. Have you tried the fresh sausage yet? That is probably one of my fav things we do is the fresh sausage. Speaking of the fresh sausage, that is what we are having for dinner tomorrow night.

Yep, gonna hafta agree with ya there. Just tried the patty sausage, and it gets two thumbs up too.

On a side note, had some of the baconburger a couple nights ago, and it was as good as I've had.

Is it just like the smoked but with peppers and cheese added?

Yep.. Same taste plus the jap peppers and cheese. It is Fine. I had some for dinner tonight! We are cooking crawfish this weekend and will use the sausage to go in the boil. Can't wait to do that!

Well, I'm gonna go ahead and take the rest of my meat down there this coming week. Gonna get mostly regular smoked, but will get some of the jap and cheese too. Will prolly get my mom some summer sausage too.

My tamale order at Tony's will be ready this week too, and they are the macdaddy of tamales. 60 dozen --- can you say TAMALE?!!!

Where is Tony's? I have been getting tamales from another place and the quality has gone down. I love some deer tamales.

It's on Livingston Rd right across from the Medical Mall.

They have some bad-arse tamales (best I've ever had-of any kind), and they are only $3.50 a dozen. The only drawback is that they only do large orders. You take them 20lbs of groung venison (that's been ground with 20% fat), and you get back around 60 dozen.

I know that sounds like a lot of tamales, but when you start eatin em and givin em away (they make great little gifts), they go pretty damn fast. First time I got some, I split and order, and ended up gettin another whole order.

You alking about that little hole in the wall tamale shop with all the old western stuff in it? If so, I've had their beef tamales and they are fine. I didn't know they would make up venison tamales for you. I'll take my next batch there.

Yep, there's a bunch of different antique type stuff in there. Western, farmin, even has a model car collection. It's a pretty cool place.

Just ate a dozen fer lunch, and this batch is a little spicier than I would like, but they are still damn good.
