Yup -- My old K-9 got heartworms while on that stuff -- they pretty much just sucked the life right of him ---- he finally had to be retired due to loss of drive

just gonna give you guys a heads up. I dont know if this is true, its just what my vets office told me yesterday.
i was looking at purchasing heartguard from 1800petmeds.com because they were cheaper. i went to the vet to buy this round because i needed it yesterday. they told me that heartguard would not warranty there product unless it was bought through a vets office( ie. over the internet) again, i dont know if this is accurate, but that is what i was told. just wanted to let yall know.

We've been using Ivomec for the past year for our lab and two corgis - given orally once a month. No problems so far.

My vet has been ordering me a special mix from a company out of AZ. It is a compounded heartworm, tapeworm and flea sterilizer. Love it. Not much more than heartguard and treating three things. I have problems with fleas due to the squirrel population in my neighborhood and this has helped with keeping them off the dogs.

Yes I found out Saturday. My dog has been on Heartguard. My Vet says that he should be ok though after the treatment to kill them. Let me know how it goes with everyone else's dogs.

I've been using Ivomec for 9 years now. In my opinion, it's the best and cheapest way to prevent worms. I can treat 2 dogs for pennies a month. The problem I have it that my Ivomec expires long before I use all of it. I really need someone to go half on a bottle with me. I just bought a bottle for $40 and that will last me until next summer when I throw half the bottle away because it expired.
I know one of the top field trail trainers inthe country that has a kennel of 32 dogs uses Ivomec every month on all 32. If it's good enough for FC AFC dogs, its good enough for me.

My little buddy is in the third week of his first treatment for heartworms. My vet is giving him a three phase treatment. He is getting a little tired of being kenneled up, other than that everything is going good. He has been on heartguard his whole life. After this ordeal, I don't care if I ever hear the word "heartguard" again!!!!!

Where can you get the Ivomec besides the vet? Are they chewables or liquid?
http://www.theherbsplace.com/heartprevent.html This is kind of the more natural approach. Anyone up on this type of prevention?
