Wow! Just like on the DC tape. There are about 3 dozen breeding pairs of resident mallards that frequent our fishponds. When I'm feeding the fish, they'll sail in and partake of the fish feed. Today I see this blonde mallard hen paired with a drake. She has almost white sides and wings, with dirty-white/tan back and head. I'm gonna try and get some pics up soon if she hangs around.

No, it's not domestic..at least not like any "white-park duck" I've ever seen.

Wingman, a buddy of mine took a mallard last season that had too much white on back and wings.. we sent a photo to Ms. biologist and waitin for any reply.. he wouldn't send the bird, it is gone to the taxidermist.. EL-NINO ?

would you guys say that a BLONDE mallard was more or less likely to fall for the old spinning wing decoy trick?

The one I killed came in to a couple of quacks and a dozen decoys. There was no doubt it was a blonde hen as it came in. It's a good conversation piece when people come to the house, not many people have encountered them.

There is one at a park here in Nashville, She is paired up with the biggest Greenhead I have ever seen. With exception to the neck, he is almost as big as a honker. I am waiting on there little ones to hatch, she is still on the nest.
