I just wanted to say THANK YOU to ALL the workers ,judges and contestants that made the Hurricane Relief Test a success. There were some truly dedicated people at this test. We ran about 125 dogs in the rain sleet and wind that would cut ya.
Just to let ya know we raised just over $3600 for HRC FOUNDATION for Hurricane Relief.
It was a weekend that I will never forget.I am sure ChocLab aint either . He had been out in the weather all day marshalling and running to title out and get well water down his back that was COLD

I decided to make the trip Saturday morning down and take it all in... I'm sure glad I could watch the tests from the gravel roads. The tests seem to have been setup well, although it looked like the seasoned water had two areas- one for the marks and then the handler moved over and ran the blind: can someone explain that to me? Also, I saw several handlers throwing dummies for their dogs ON the same field that their dogs were about to run WHILE other dogs were running the test in the same field (Finished Land C I believe- in the curve with the grass field).

Had a great time myself. Being it was my first HT it was something to see. Meet some great people and froze my butt off but it was worth it. Dog did get his first started pass saturday. Rebel wasn't exactly acting right but he did the "deed". The finished dogs where fun to watch and knew there stuff. It was an experince i want forget. Great for both me and the dog. Figured out what i need to work on and what i want in the end.

Thanks I really enjoyed it.

Bolivar,

On seasoned the marks and blind should be separate. Most seasoned tests I've run or seen had the line for the blinds or marks in a different spot.

On finished I suspect that those folks were tossing bumpers to get their dogs to take a dump before they ran. Sometimes tossing a few quick bumpers will kind of hurry the process along. I don't think that would be considered "training on the grounds"

I had a great time as well. Didn't run a dog(except test dog on finished A) but got to experience the whole event in all its arctic glory :D

Thanks to all of the judges who stuck out the wintry conditions. That took real dedication.

well I can't say enough about the turn around this club has done in just a few months! This was probably in my top 5 of test I've ever been too (and that includes 3 grands  ). The weather was harsh and every club member I saw this weekend was working their tail off and never once complained......great job WMHRC......great job!

B3 ran "teal" as test dog, pickup dog and bye dog for me all weekend and she smacked the test like an ole pro, I was very impressed even though she is british      B3 and Jaydot were my marshall's all weekend, chuckle came through for us with a finisher blind and 4 wheeler and every member kept asking me if I needed them to help out more......again outstanding job!

The banquet was the best I have attended for a local club event, the decision to move it to the hotel was very nice and if anyone has ever been to the grand then that is exactly how the banquet looked. I'm glad they were able to raise alot of money for a good cause and I commend the club for donating the money

It would take me all day to thank every member personally so please accept my thanks as a whole, ya'll did an outstanding job and I was extremely impressed!

Same here man, it was good to meet you. Also glad I got to meet Ronnie P. and Bill Autry.

Ace looked good on water but had a handle on the short bird. Go figure? Then went over to land and help set the wingers up and watched them run through what I thought was the sequence of marks, which was left to right and then went to eat. Came back and they were ready to run so I jumped in the holding blind and could not really see anything and didn't really pay attention either. When I got to the bucket I was waiting for the marks to come out from the left and then heard the guy honoring start shooting. I new I was screwed. Ace saw the last mark and might have seen the middle, but not sure. Neither one of us saw the right mark. He picked up the go bird and then I had to handle on the middle mark. We ran the right as a blind....I didn't know exactly where it was, but ended up picking it up clean with a quick handle....but 3 handles equals a big ole FAIL. I honored on lead and then headed north to beat the bad weather home. I wish I didn't have to work Sunday or I would have hung around and tried to redeem myself. Just goes to show you that it is a team sport and if BOTH parties don't have their head in the game you may as well stay home. I'll be kicking myself for that one for a while.

As far as the test......Glenn and Harris set up a good one and I enjoyed running it. No cheese and nothing ridiculous. I think they hated to see me screw up worse than I did.

Test grounds were great and It was cold as hell.

See y'all at Southern Flight.
