It looks like I will soon be moving to Meridian and was hoping some of you might be able to tell me a little about the city.
Where to be and go.
Which places to avoid.
Apartments or houses to rent.
Where to start my job search.
Any other helpful info ya'll can pass along.
On a sad note, when I move I probably won't be able to take my dog with me unless I am fortunate enough to find decent house with a back yard and fence to rent. If I can't take him with me, I will probably be looking to give him to a good home. The only catch is what I consider to be a good home:
When he was about two he outgrew being a house dog and got kicked out. I live on a very busy road and have a small yard, so he has spent the last several years living mainly in a pen. A good home has no pens! A good home is not on a busy road! A good home has a huge yard (one where he can run till he's tired and still be at home)!
If there is chance that he will be penned up even more, or a chance that he will wind up dead in the road, I'll just keep him. That can happen here (unfortunately). So, if you meet the qualifications and need or want a really good pet who is a modest hunter or know someone who does, let me know. I would love for my buddy to be better off than he is now!
Oh, by the way, he is a six year old yellow lab that knows his basic obedience and how to retrieve a duck. With a short brush-up course and a lot of TLC he'll make someone a great pal!
Thanks in advance for the help, guys.

Landscraper my wife might have a fit but if you plan on giving him away I would be interested. If you would like to come see my house fits those qualifications. I have one lab I dont keep him penned up but while I am at work he does stay on a rope in the back yard. Reason being I cant go to work If I dont he will follow his daddy anywhere. I am hoping he grows out of that. As for the rest of the time I let him run. I already have one other lab that lives down the street that stays at the house too.
I would hate to see ya get rid of him b/c I dont believe I could get rid of Drake but if it comes down to it I would be interested.

PM me with your details. My Grandfather's house in North Meridian may still be available. I will check on its status.
You would be very satisfied with it. Meeka and I lived there for about 2 years. It has about a 2 acre shady, chain link fenced backyard. I think it would be on a short term basis until the house is sold.
If you don't mind about a 20 minute drive, there are some rural homes available in Clarke County. Kinda depends on what you are looking for.
No, I am not a R/E agent or broker but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express once.

LS if the dog hunts i might be interested, i have a lab and a golden retriever right now, but my parents have a big farm, and my dog's too spoiled to hunt good, i have a pretty big back yard, almost 1/2 acre, 6' wooden dogear fence, love to duck hunt, love dogs, i have been thinking about buying and training a new puppy, but really can't afford to go through it. So check your private for my e-mail. and write me with a phone number and we can talk if you still have him.
