Southern Bred Ducks/Geese

Postby nomsduckhunter » Thu Apr 18, 2002 2:19 pm

Here is a question...Ducks/Gesse that nest here in the south...Do they migate further south than go north? Are they counted in the feds numbers for overall duck population? I have seen as everyone has that there is more ducks/geese nesting here than ever before. Just curious. As a side note, I was taking pictures at Shelby Farms in Memphis and two Geese there had leg bands!

We have a pile of mallards and Canadas that nest on our ponds. I do believe the mallards stay here all year. I have seen potholes full of mallards in August...res ducks...sure is fun to watch them fly around when I feed the fish...they'll sail right in in front of the truck!
