Life Span

I was just wondering what the average life span of a labrador is. Mine are going on 6 and some one told me it was about 7 or 8. Just curious.

Mine just made 10! I believe He's still got a few more left... I once read that Lab's that were used for Gun dog's and hunted hard were probably good for about 8 to 10 yrs and one's that were hunted lightly and enjoyed a somewhat relaxed life; lived for 12 to 14. Don't know about all that stuff though. Dog's are like people. Some live longer than others no matter what kinda crap they've been through!

I have had two that lived to be 14.

kinda off subject but ive got a golden thats 17 and the only teeth in her head are her k-9s. she can go step for step with the john deer gator all over a 500ac farm and is a water mocosin killin machine.

7 to 8 is a little short, I think.

Mine made 11.

On another note, I believe diet in dogs matters considerably! Feed them quality and every vet I've spoken with say's that it can help increase their lifespan... performance level and such.
