Delta Waterfowl NE MS Chapter Meeting Report
Posted: Tue Apr 09, 2002 9:56 pm
Well, four brave, adventurous men showed up at Russell's steak house in Tupelo to get the future NE MS Chapter started. Was not the numbers we hoped for, but it is a start.
Currently, the proposed geographic area for this chapter is a ten county area, including the following counties: Lee, Pontotoc, Itawamba, Union, Monroe, Chickasaw, Prentiss, Tippah, Tishomingo, and Alcorn. Within this ten county area there are currently a total of 53 Delta Waterfowl members. Obviously, there is a lot of room for growth.
We are in the process of scheduling a second meeting and will post the date, location and time in the near future. Several people who could not attend tonight have expressed their interest in being involved in the chapter, and we hope they can attend our next get together. We will try to have John Devney of Delta at our next meeting if possible per John's schedule.
The goals and activities discussed for the future chapter includes the following: increase Delta Waterfowl membership; regular fellowship at gatherings (at locales throughout the ten county area) such as informal dinner/program(waterfowl conservation or hunting topics), skeet/trap shoots, cookouts, etc; adopt potholes as a chapter; sponsor a youth hunt each year; donate $ for hen nesting structures; etc.
If this sounds like something you would be interested in, please give me a shout. Thanks to all who expressed interest and hope to see you at the next meeting.
