What is a gadwall? I have never seen one and have never shot one. I have seen and killed a greys in my day. Please call them by their correct name (south La. anyway) a grey duck.

Everything but a mallard is a grey

Aw Jack: You know that down here a "grey duck" is a mottled duck, and a "grayduck" is a gadwall. Don't be confusing these people. Next thing you will be talking about dos gris and summer mallards and really have 'em scratching their heads!

Every where else in the world they are know as gadwalls except in LA.

and on the Mississippi coast.

ive never seen a gadwall down here....................shoot them all the time up in wisconsin though

You guys are forgetting the Mobile Alabama river delta. Virtually nothing but grays. Everyone refers to them as grays. Friends back home say they are having best season on them in past five to six years as well.

I don't think our camp has ever accused anyone of shootin' gadwalls or lesser scaup...killed the heck out of some gray ducks though, dos gris too...

funny, story...there's an ole boy hunts a couple of miles from us, we call him "cuz"...came over one evenin' to eat some steaks...now we've known him for quite a while...but this one evenin' there we happened to have a guest along...anyway he gets to talkin' to this fella about shootin' some "scallop ducks" that morning.... Well none of us had any idea what he was talkin about...til one of the guys spoke up and asked what the he!! a "scallop duck" was...then he confessed he didn't figure the new fella knew what a dos gris was so he was callin' 'em by their proper name....
