the joy of public land

Don't you hate it when this happens.
Here is the senerio.......On public land, Our group gets to a hole first and wants to hunt a spot where a blind is but the blind was not put there by them. Too many hunters to fit in the blind anyway so they decide to set up in some cover less than 100 yards away. Decoys out and getting settled in and then a group comes in and hunts the blind......they shoot at birds that are circling over the our group's heads, sky blasting everything in sight. And then they start picking up dekes at 7:30 while ducks are still coming in. An hour later they are finially on their way.
Too me if you are beat to the hole....you are just beat. Plain and simple. It is public land and we have several blinds out but if we are beat to them, we go somewhere else. (that has never happen b/c we don't get beat)
I need a damn lease!

I agree. I move else where when I'm beat.
I've also heard people say that if someone has put in the work of building a blind I should move for them. I guess i can see the decency in that but its still public right?
Whats your take on that?

public land is first come gets the spot -- that would be like trying to "buy" the spot by building a blind
i can see some yahoo building a blind in one of the better holes in a NWR and thinkin they were gonna get ta hunt it even if someone else got there first

public land is first come first serve...
if the people want to hunt their blind, they can get up earlier and go, otherwise, it wouldn't be public...it would be like they owned it for the season...

sounds like you need a boat blind to me. no seriously i think it is bullchit but it is public land and otherwise it would be owned or a lease. Bottom line is no matter what someone does to you on public land there is really nothing you can do about it unless you want some jail time. Sucks, but that is the case. I personally think jailtime is worth getting just to give some of these punks a little fire water.

We use the "If the shot breaks skin, your too close" method. It's worked well for us over the years.

Just like I stated above, we have blinds out in some places and if we are beat, we are beat. I can't blame somebody for hunting it, especially when they come in and we are not there. However, we have never been beat to our blinds and only been beat 2 times to other spots and that was late in the season when we were wore down and couldn't get rolling in the morning.
Here's another thing....these boys ain't local, and that just makes it worse. I don't have a problem with people comeing from other counties to hunt. Hell, there's plenty of room in this slough for everybody that usually hunts it. But to come over here and chit on us like this two weekends in a row.....somethings got to give. I have hunted public land in Arkansas and last thing I would want to do is pizz local boys off. That is when chit gets tore up, broken, set on fire and carried to the deep water. Not saying I would do that, but who knows.
they have a permit yall dont

the law says that you must have a permit in ms public corp land.at least in tate county.so if they have the permit it gives them the right to hunt in it,but it doesnt mean you cant hunt next to it.

first come first serve your right but I can move My blind I have anytime I want too if your sitting in it get ready for a boat ride..I wont charge 20 bucks to ride the Tunica queen like they will to ride the Memphis queen.
I only hunt Public that considered private and if you all read this far I'm only messing with everyone...but the rides really are still free.
