Well finally got my Dad to come out on a Duck Hunt. We have both been avid Deer Hunters for years, but I recently got into the sport and really enjoy it...So when he came up this Thanksgiving got him out there to take it all in..

Now the place we hunt doesn't have great duck hunting, lots of wood duck mostly. But it was fun watching him trying to hit those little jets as they came busting in....We ended up with 5 ducks total over two morning hunts..But the pics and memories are much better than the numbers of birds in the bag..

Opening Morning of Duck Hunting. 11-25-05 In Leake County just off the Pearl River. Lots of Wood Ducks. This was my Dad's first Duck Hunt. We ended up with 1 Wood Duck Drake..



Wood Ducks don't fly long so there is time to enjoy a little snack...


Saturday Morning 11/26/05 We took a few more hunters and some dogs with us. Got 4 birds this morning. I got my 2 Wood Duck Limit and started snapping pics.


We walked out with 4 Birds this morning...Not a big take, but still had fun.

that is what it's about!!! I had a major falling out with my father 7 months ago and will miss the good hunts that I had with him but the ones we had were great reguardless of the kill count.

Enjoy it!!! I can't get my dad to go on any hunting or fishing trips anymore. Too busy with the bottle these days. No new memories for us. Cherish them while you got 'em!!

good pics. i have been trying to get my dad into the whole duck hunting thing. took him opening day. we shot 2 grayducks. had a good time though.

my dad got me into duck hunting when I was about 8 and about 5 years ago he quit any type of hunting. We used to dove, squirrel, deer, and duck and even go fishing. He has not even shot a gun in over 5 years. He came to the house this summer and I was bream fishing and I mede him catch a bream. It is sad.

As a kid I never thought about how much the hunting trips really meant, now that I live 7 hours away and don't see him like I used to, I would give anything for another one of those hunts.

Looks like you guys sure had a good time. My dad doesn't hunt any more either. Now I hunt with my father-in-law. My wife thinks it's great, boy do we have it good.

I got my dad into it about 4 years ago, and have enjoyed every minute of it.

I am usually the ring leader among my group to get the hunts rolling. I have room for three in the boat. Dad gets first option (he is always game as long as we ain't walking in the mud more than a couple hundred yards), then my father-in-law. after that I start filling in with my friends.

I pretty much laid it out there. I will hunt with family first as long as they are around.

That's awesome. My dad started me out squirrel and duck (woodies) hunting when I was young. He worked on the railroad so he very seldom had time to take me, but he introduced me to it. I have tried to get him to come speck fishing or duck hunting with me for the last 8-10 years with no luck. He retired about 4 years ago so I thought he would go with me since he had plenty of time, wrong again. So feel blessed that you and your dad do things together.

My dad's not much into deer hunting, but I kind of roped him into duck hunting and it lets us spend some time together outdoors.

i wouldnt trade the memories of the hunts me and my dad have been on for the world...nobody can take that away from you...awesome memory to have!

Gettin your old man to go with you gets harder when he gets older, but when he does better put it back in the memory file, cause they always good memories.

JDBUCKSHOT, that video was awesome. My father never did any hunting, I can only imagine the bond a father and son can have when sharing it in nature on Saturday's together. No better place to have a father teach you the rights and wrongs in life than in nature. Just curious, whats the name of that song and who sings it.

It's on his hard to find "Wonders of Wildlife" cd. I just bought it from amazon for 3.18 I started looking for it after I saw the post.
