Those are NOT the sentiments of the majority of the UM fan base, even assuming for discussion purposes that the subject post was indeed made by a Rebel fan, alumni, supporter, etc. I certainly do not share this person's views.

There are some out there in Rebel land with an agenda ---notably an agenda against this particular coach ---Coach O. This relatively small disenchanted group contains Cut loyalists, elitists who dislike Coach O's common man persona, and alumni'$$ supporters in the good ol boy network at UM who perceive that their toes have been stepped on by Coach O due to Coach O's insistence, with the backing of RK and PB, of coaching football and running the program at UM without a lot of interference from the good ol boys. And to put it bluntly, some of these folks are just beside themselves over things that should matter not if the objective is to win big in the SEC.

The folks in the anti-O camp at UM have only helped fuel rampant rumours and other negative fiction about and against Coach O almost since the day he was hired. Other schools and their fans have joined in the undue criticism and rumour mongering ---after all, they do not have the best interests of UM at heart.

While it is disappointing to see some of the internal division among Rebel fans/supporters, it is nothing that winning in the future can not cure. If and when Coach O can turn things around, it will be "amazing" to see the outlook of the fan base change literally overnight. And many of his harshest critics will then try to tell us that they were really behind him all along, knew that he would be successful, but were just trying to be objective with "constructive criticism" (sort of like the democratic song and dance trying to now be anti-war after voting for the war).

I'm still "In" with Coach O. IMO, the talent level left by Cut was so deficient on the OL that no coach in America could have overcome such an obstacle. Coach O knows what it will take to win an SEC title. And to do so at UM will require a complete overhaul of the program --a transformation from a historically "finesse" team to a "power" team that can consistently rush the football and play excellent defense. Such a transformation will take a little time. If such can be done at UM, then I think Coach O is the type of coach that can do it. The real question will be whether the Rebel fan base will show the patience and maturity it will take to reach the next level. IMO, hiring a new head coach every couple of years is not the answer. There are a lot of Rebel fans/supporters that would agree with me.

You got it Bigwater. Winning will shut up a lot of critics. Winning will make the grass look greener, the girls look prettier, the BBQ pork taste better, the whiskey go down smoother, the college gameday experience in Oxford fun again, all the coaches will then be geniuses who were initially just misunderstood, RK and PB will suddenly be wise again, the air will feel crisper, ticket sales will pick up, the money will flow into the coffers, more money for further expansion wil roll in as will the private donors to pay for it , Rebs everywhere will have an extra spring in their step ---- all will be right again in Red and Blue land.

Damn the torpedos. Just win baby.
