I don't know, I was thinking about this same thing the other day. There have been a lot of crappy years since the early 70s for both UM and MSU in the same years. There have been a lot of Egg Bowls over the year with nothing at stake but pride. Not sure about USM since I did not take any interest in their program.
But, I agree that this is definately the worst year overall in football for Mississippi teams in quite some time.
The Egg Bowl this year has no team trying to reach a bowl game, no team to play the "spoiler" (spoil what? the diff between 3-8 or 4-7? who freaking cares?). Neither team has an offense worth a damn, nor a winning SEC caliber QB or OL. Each team has a decent to good defense. The field goal kicking, when these two offenses manage to get close enough to kick one, has been shaky at best. Who will win? Does anyone actually care? It will be a toss up. Which team will screw up the most --or more specifically, which offense and special teams will screw up the most?
Can a game just be cancelled due to lack of interest?

I think we should just put each team out of their misery and declare a draw and let everyone enjoy the Thanksgiving holidays while watching other, real football teams play on tv.

well said po monkey.. and to add a comment about the lack of interest.. there has been a movement on the internet message boards to boycott the game..
i think i'll show up about the start of the second qtr.. drunk as negro on the 3rd of the month.. wearing my goose suit, painted maroon and white of course.. cursing the entire situation as i proceed..
sounds like fun
