1x time on the wal-mart Berreta

Postby browndog » Wed Mar 13, 2002 7:09 pm

I'm probably going to buy the Berreta 390 at Wal-Mart this weekend, have heard lots of good things here and other places about it, and variable reports on the SBE so for less money seems like the way to go. Like the feel of the gun, but saw something posted here the other day, where somebody wondered if Wal_mart had commissioned Berreta to make this (cheaper)version of the gun or did Wal_Mart just purchase the remaining ones from Berreta and is selling them ? anyway any of you knowledgeable gun-heads like GulfCoast have the straight scoop on this. Thanks

BrownDog,
The 390 will not shoot 3.5 shells! I shoot a SBE and only shoot 3.5 shells. If I only shot 3" shells I would like to have a 391 to duck hunt with and give up my SBE.

I lost my mind for a sec, I would not go any where near a duck hole with out my SBE. I shoot a 24" Black SBE had it backbored and forcing cone lenghtened and shoot Ballistic chokes. It is a duck and goose killing machine.

You lov'em or you hate'em!!!!!!!!

Too tough a decision there BrownDog. Just get a Browning, then you know you're getting the best!

Before heading to Wally World would suggest you check out a Franchi 912..at ~$599 (black synthetic) they're only a few bucks more and you get the 3.5" capability if needed..also, try out the 24" barrel version..might be the best of both worlds..good luck.

BrownD, I just bought two of them. One for me, and one for my son. Couldn't be more pleased...

BD, I talked to the div.(?) sporting goods mgr for walmart, and he told me that they bought all the remaining 390's from berretta. They Have all been shipped to the various Distribution centers and when they are gone, that's it. If you miss getting one, you will probably kick yourself. If you get one and do not like it, You will not have any problem getting your money back out of it.

Bass Pro Shop in Nashville, has both the 390 and the 391 and cost 799.00 and 879.00.

As far as the 3" vs the 3.5" if you can't hit them with the 3 the 3.5 is not going to make any difference. As far a knock down, you can go to a 3" bismuth or another alternative for the same money that you can go to 3.5" And you will get just as many birds per box inspite of the number of shells difference.

And yes, I love mine, even better that my 870's and brownings.

Come to think about it, a Rem 1100 cost more the the Berretta. For $526.00 you can't go wrong in my book.

2 Cents worth....

Be sure to keep in mind as to where and who you hunt with...when considering which gun...

4-5 guys that hunt with me know that no..none are allowed in any of my blinds, boats, or hunts with short 21-24" guns....

the short guns are great to shoot...but toooooooooooooooo loud...if you dont think it makes a difference, you short gunners swap guns with your buddy and shout at some fast flying passing teal.......you will see..

for the money and the much lower cost of shells...like the 30 inch berretta's...for duck., doves, teal, ect....

now you have my 2 cents....
do i get any change back.........

I used to shoot a 21" Remington Special field until my brother got him a Turkey gun with 24" barrell Now we both are near deaf (we were already dumb) No more comments needed!!

Now I shoot the Beretta Extreme and I love it. If you want the best get a Beretta!!

I heard that The Willows had a Extrema for sale call and ask how much 662-357-3154 You will be glad you did
