Thousands of ducks!

Postby Big Lou » Mon Mar 11, 2002 8:37 am

Hey y'all went fishing this weekend on a fantastic charter out of COCCO Marinia in Cocodrie. We cauht over 400 lbs of fish and had a blast. we saw ducks everywhere, and even saw some pink flamingoes (I don't think this is how you spell it!). They were everywhere we went in the marsh. It was a real treat to see over 5,000 birds get up out of a bay when you round the corner. It looked like mostly Dos Gris, but what a sight. the guide told me that they started showing up after the last freeze. It got so cold down there that they broke ice in the cannals. If you guys are looking for a good chartere service in south LA give these guys a call. We caught drum, redfish, sheephead, puppy drum, rat red, and some trout. My arm still hurts and I love it! Yeah Danny Glover runs a pretty good operation down there....by the way those are Roseate Spoonbills not flamingos.

Thanks Dos Gris for that info. It was hard to tell at 50 MPH. By the way that's Johnny Glover, his wife Joan and son Michael. Johnny and dad went to Pharmacy school together he is one of the best human beings I have had the pleasure of knowing. If you get a chance to go down that way try and book with Eugene or Joe. they have been fishing that marsh for about 30 years each! I grew up down there in Houma and fished Cocofrie every weekend util grandpaw's camp got blown away during Camile. Boy has it grow into one niuce resort fishing town. The specks are just starting to come on. should be real good in April! Take care adn good fishing!

I saw a ton of ducks (gadwall, teal, mallards, coots, shovelers, a little bit of everything) on the rez the other day. Wish I could be hunting right now!
