Tint on Windows

Just to let everyone know that our Great State has a new law about the tint on windows of vehicles, I found this out yesterday when I went to get a new inspection sticker. I was told, after they put some gizzmo on my door glass, that the tint was to dark and I would have to pull it off before I could get an inspection sticker  , I said I think NOT  and they said see ya'. Then I go to two other places and get the same thing, but what gets me is the first place said my tint was 27%, the second place said 29% and the third place said it was 30% and the new law says it has to be at least 32%. I have had my windows tinted on my truck since the day after I bought it brand new, 3 years, and never had any trouble until yesterday with getting a sticker.

I guess I am just venting a little and wanted to let folks know if you have tint on your vehicles and you need an inspection sticker, which I think are a joke as well, be ready to take it off.

I believe this law has been around for years, just hasn't been inforced. I may be wrong, but I believe this is the case.

Heck just keep driving around, eventually you'll find one that'll pass ya. After all it IS a government ran inspection program you are dealing with...there can't be much consistency to that.

Duckkiller, Cruisemaster was the first place I went and the guy who owns it has been a friend of all my life and he said he could not do it. I have thought about going to some other places and see if I could find one that would read it at 32%, I may go up to starkville and see if I can get it done there.

I wouldn't mind one bit complying with the law, except I just got my dang windows done about 6 months ago!! Cost too much money to go have somebody do it again.

every other time a law changes, the items already existing are 'grandfathered' in allowing them to continue operating in the manor of which they have previously.
My 65 model Chevrolet doesn't have seat belts, I was not required to go and have someone install them. It also will accept leaded gasoline, and doesn't have catalytic converters. I was not required to go have that changed.

It is just more of a hassle. I understand that it is a safety issue, but damn I ain't shooting nobody. Unless they shoot first.

It's one thing to change a law, but if they are going to change it, those who already had something done should be grandfathered in. If it has been in effect for some time and just now being enforced that's another.

We had a tint sticker law for years that was not really enforced. The new law tacks it onto vecicle inspection. If your tint does not pass no inspection sticker. All tint done at the factory i.e. back and side windows on pick up trucks are legal. Here is the deal. If you get sssstopped you will get a no inspection ticket and a ticket for the tint. The tint violation will cost more than a first offence DUI. Here is the law as writen.

New law was effective the beginning of July i think.
I personally think they were runnin out of money and needed somethin to raise some more funds. A shame that we have to pay for it. Pretty sure they also did it for the "protection" of law enforcement.

Duckaholic is right. The first offense fine could be more than first offense DUI. You need to thank Rep. Billy McCoy and his Democratic gang for this increase. It was done mearly for the purpose of another state revenue gain. You have to pay extra for the tint inspection sticker.

There was a big stink on this bill this past summer. I believe the law took place around the 4 of July.

THANK YOU BILLY MCCOY FOR SCREWING US AGAIN!!!

It Sucks!
35% sucks,
it doesn't even keep the leather from fading in my father's King Ranch.

I would, however, get my done at 35 if i didn't have to go through the hassle of getting them redone.

completely against it, especially in the North MS area, it ain't the cars with valid MS plates and inspection stickers that are causing problems.

This subject really pizzes me off.
