Okay I am going to open up a can of worms. I am currently feeding pro plan. But, my supplier is not going to be able to carry it anymore well he can but the price is would go up 7.00 a bag. So what is everyone feeding, in talking with a local pro he just tried the pro athelete arkat and was not pleased with it . Anymore suggestions ? Thanks Vern

The Enhance pro athelete can even make my dog hot. It is a 30/20. They have several other mixes that I use regularly. The Pro Athelete is good, to me, whne you train EVERY day or whne hunting season rolls around. Sharkey and I like it for the performance. JMO.

Vern,
I had the same problem as you a few years back and now I have to make regular trips to PetSmart in Jackson to get my dog food.
I sure wish someone around Vicksburg would carry a decent dog food!

vern, if you have a local 'purina mills' farm supply/feed store, they can get 'exclusive' made by PM. we switched from pro plan to exclusive performance about a year ago. good stuff..

if you can get it, you should try diamond professional.
I couldn't tell a difference in it and pro plan except when I wrote the check. It is about $18 for a 40# bag.
Also heard alot of good about Arkat and PMI. I can't get either of those around here though.

Just one more thing to add here. I would use Pro Plan, being that they do sponser HRC. However, finding it is almost impossible in rural areas and it is 5, 10, and 15 bucks a bag higher than several of the aboved mentioned feeds. This may not make much difference to one doggers, but three.........chit adds up quick.

I no a trainer that is sponcered by Exclusive. The exclusive rep. told him diamond was just as good as Exclusive. Just doesn't have Glusamine.
I feed Diamond Pro. must all co/op's have it. my dog's love it. I've tryed exclusive, pmi advantaged formula, and diamond pro. like all, there all about the same. Diamonds cheaper.

the diamond professional does have a glucosamine supplement. was gonna check the ratio against eukanuba, but they didnt have it listed as an ingredient. i know they use to have glucosamine in their performance feed. somebody that feeds it, look on the bag and post the glucosamine content. its got me wondering about something.

My wife thinks the dogs coat is shinier with Eukaneuba, so that what goes in the bowl. Is that a scientific reason, or what?

My understanding is that there are two ingredents that make the coat shine, 1. is the quality of fish oil 2. is the beet content. If you are having coat problems with the food you are feeding right know a simple solution is to add one table spoon of olive oil to the top of the dogs food. You will notice a difference in one week.
