Beretta Shotguns ??

Postby limit6 » Mon Jan 14, 2002 1:28 pm

Had a guy tell me the other day that Beretta is no longer making the AL390 and not to buy one because there were problems with them. He said they now produce the AL391 in place of the 390. Anybody got any info about this. Would like to purchase a new auto-loader before next season and thought now might be the time to get a good price.

The only problem the 390 had was it would eat shells. It just kept shootin, and shootin, and shootin, and shootin...

kinda like the energizer bunny - the beretta 390.

With all deference to your friend, he was smoking crack. The 390 has been discontinued in favor of the 391 in the natural progression of marketing. The 391 is a fine gun, too. But the 390 is probably the best gas gun ever made. It dominates tournament shooting, which is much harder on a gun than hunting will ever be. Most tournament shooters burn more shells in a week than most hunters do in a couple of years.

The remaining 390's have been remaindered to Wal-Mart where they are called the 3901. No chamber cut off, and no shims. Heck of deal at about $500.

I bought a 390 last May and have shot it a bunch. Great gun. They can still be had for about $425 here in GA Walmarts. if you look around. I've run approx. 1000 rounds through it and not one jam or misfire.

I have had a Beretta 391 now for a little over a year and man is that thing SWEET!!

Beretta has came out with another version called the Extrema that is a 3.5" you may want to look into.

I think you will be very pleased with any Beretta product. Good luck to ya!

BTW, Gulfcoast is correct, your friend is sorely misled. The 390 was/is one hell of a good gun! No doubt about it.

I bought one of the Wally World specials last February and love it, never had one problem out of it, just operator failure. The gun started hanging up after I forgot to put the valve spring back inside the forearm. It's the sweetest shooting gun I've put to my shoulder with the lightest recoil. The Wally World in town still has one left, the same one that was there when I got mine. I told them that the gun was discontinued and they didn't know it, so I'm trying to buy the gun for around $400.

i have had a beretta since they were sold by browning....b80..auto////

liked the browning so well...when beretta started marketing their own gun...purchased it about 6 years ago...with choke tubes, 30 inch..i like to ne nice to my fellow duck hunters who are in the blind.....makes a big difference in noise....

i still have the browning and the breatta have never had a problem...and i am very very very tough on a gun, 4-wheeler, motor,ect..have shot doves, skeet, sporting clays, ducks, and hand targets,,,,.....

call a local gunsmith...he will agree...it is the best gun in an automatic...and that includes the benelli and other high dollar shotguns...

hope u enjoy yours as much as i have mine...

I've had an AL390 Sporting for about 2 years now and have used it bust clay targets as well as ducks. It take can the abuse and I have never had the first problem with it at all. Don't ever see myself letting this one go ...

A great all-around gun that has been discontinued in favor of the AL391. If I'm not mistaken, the 391 was Guns & Ammo's top Auto Shotgun for 2001.

sold my jamming benelli 2 duck seasons ago and bought the 391. Best auto-loader on the market. Like comparing lightening to lightening bugs. Go buy one today!

Got my 391 Extrema 3.5 on Friday shot a few times this weekend and I am In Love!! Got hot Sunday morning & went 4 for 4 on Greenwings and Gadwall! Got to buy some stock in Kent cartridge Co. cause this thing is FAST! Can't tell much difference in 3" and 3.5" on the Back end but can see the results when the feathers fly. Gonna retire my Supermag for A while if I can afford the ammo.

Gotta See It To Belive IT! I Believe!!

I've had my Xtrema the entire duck season its the real deal! I also have a 390 that i've had for about four years. I would'nt begin to count the rounds through that 390 without a hang yet! I guarantee you shoot thw Xtrema and youll forget about all the others!!!!!

Well this is a first! Someone asks a question about a specific shotgun and there is not one negative reply or a futile attempt to sway you torward another product. I'm impressed!!

There's hope for this place afterall. The testimonies above obviously says alot about Beretta customer satisfaction.

There is some reason why most of the places in Mexico and Argentina (that supply guns for you and 500 rounds a day per gun is normal) use Beretta 390's almost exclusively. Not that I've been, mind you! That's what I read and what I've been told by several acquaintances who have been.
