The big 40

Postby Marty N. » Sun Oct 16, 2005 6:22 pm

Just got back from Cemtal Ark. Hunt test and want to brag a little about my old dog. She turned 9 this past July but does not know it yet, she has slowed down a little and does not hit the water as hard as she used to but when it comes to a Master Test she still has it going on. Today made the 40th Master test she has passed. All total she has ran 54 test and passed 40, I had thought about retiring her this year and letting my son run her in Juniors and maybe Seniors when he gets just a little taller. He is 6 and can't see her on a long blind or her him. Kinda brought a tear to my eye when that grey face came out of the water with that last mark and lined up for the blind looked up as if to say, "lets get another one". Guys don't know what I will do when she is gone. But until then we are going to play the game she loves and continue to "Get another one".

Thanks for the kind words, it is as Gator said just dogs picking up stuff. Sometimes it is easy to forget that all any of these great animals want to do is first please and second retrieve.
I was talking to a good friend tonight about Be and my plans for her in the future. I think we will work for the 50 pass mark and as well run a few HRC in the Spring and let my Son enjoy the HRC experience with a young dog I have coming along and who knows maybe this old girl will convience me to run a Grand. I think as long as she has the physical ability the good Lord knows her heart will never let her down she and I will continue to "Get the Next One"

Congatulations to you and the old girl with the grey muzzle. I've got an old gray one too and I know it becomes more and more special to see them do what they love.
