I just wanted tp get back into the swing it's been real busy for us lately. I was formerly known as "Fullchoke" but now known as Bent Barrell?? I just read the piece on the little bou with cancer and I tell ya, I just my 6 yr. old son on his first full fledged goose hunt. He got to "hit" a snow with his .410 and raced the dog to most of the drops. I can only pray for the families that lose young ones, I have no understanding of how hard it can be. Sorry for the sentimental tone, its good to be back...!!

Good too have you back bent. Kids are the future of our sport. I take mine when I can. I took mine several times this year. He didnt fire a shot till the last weekend, finally on the last weekend we got on a few ducks and he shot 22 times didnt hit a thing, but i heard all about it for about a week after. He's 10 and told me he was going to have to be doing some skeet shooting this summer to get better. I got a 7 year old I'm going to start next year and he cant wait either.My motto is "take a kid hunting their the future of our sport." [img]images/smiles/icon_wink.gif[/img]

Their is no dought that the kids are the future. It is our duty to teach everyone, not just the small kids but the 16 and up.
My step son has over 20 thousand acres of land that he can hunt. I can't count the duck holes he can hunt, over 60. He did not hunt but about 3 times last year. He is 17. I guess he is tracking other wildlife. He has about 5 buddies that love to hunt and live in Southhaven. They are all great kids, They had never been taught to respect the property and the wildlife. It was all about driving in the mud and just killing. They wanted to kill and give the meat away. I had to nip that atitude in the bud quick.
This past year each of them past up 2 1/2 year old 8 points. A couple of them got a 9 and 10 point with 17 and 17 1/2" spread. I was real proud of the way their tudes had changed. It is amazing all my son wants to do is go to town and all his friends want to do is to come out here and stay with or without him. I hope I have done well with them. You don't know what you have til you don't have it anymore.

I said he did, I have most of the duck hunting, and access to about 8000 acres to deer hunt on. His Grand Father on his mothers side has about 6 or 7000 acres in Boliver county to deer, turkey and duck hunt on. His Father and Grand Father have about 5 or 6000 acres in and around Lowndes county. The boy does not know what he has. I just hope he remembers I was on his ass when he was growing up for his on good.

If your children like you, you are not doing a good job as a parent.

How many shooting late tickets did you get?
If you hunt south of Beat, It sure looked good and gave hope for the morning when thousands of ducks would load up about 5 p.m. just north of you.

We hunt just southwest of shockleys house. about 600 yards. My bud got one ticket for shooting late. He didn't do it, but admited to it to keep his freind out of getting one to. Very silly of him. Mornings looked very promising as we jumped several hundred off our hole almost every morning. We would go in afternoons with thousands out there sometimes, just to never return when we jumped them.
