Here's a spooky one...I was in my treestand about 20ft up in my climber one afternoon... and i had about 4 or 5 monster deer about 100yds. from me on the other side of a hardwood ridge. Never could make a shot so i waited in my stand till dark... Well about 15min.s till dark , the deer were still there... and the opposite side of me from the deer a huge bobcat slipped up on me...Seemed to be in a sneaky attack ... doing the same as me waiting on the whitetails to move closer... but what got me was . the bobcat was only 15yards from me!!! well i didnt want to shoot the cat... because i was waiting on the deer... so i messed up and it got dark on me... the cat and the deer were still there. I could only hope the cat had left but i turned my flashlight to his direction and he was only 5yards from my tree looking dead at me... as if he was waiting on me now???? I climbed down 10ft and he was still there. so i aimed the light and shot at him... Guess what got the cat and never saw the deer again....

I had a similar situation, only with coyotes. Feeling a little spunky I went deer hunting @ my little spot in north MS. only differance was that I didnt carry my rifle, only a .44 magnum handgun. Doing the normal I was in position several minutes before daylight. Just being wierd I like to hunt off of the ground so as not to disturb anything bringing a stand in. After only a couple of minutes letting the woods "get quiet" again, I started to hear several coyotes howling. This is nothing unusual for where I hunt unfortunately we have lots of the nasty little things. Shortly after all of the howling started I noticed that they were rapidly geting closer in all directions! I stayed put not to concerned as it was breaking daylight. The more light it got I noticed two of them about 60yds down the ridge from me, and could still hear the ones behind me (dont know how many). This went on for about another 20 minutes until one of the coyotes in front of me got a little brave and started slowly making his way towards me, moving a few steps and then stopping to try and smell and take a closer look. It only took a few minutes for the coyote to get within about 20yds from me and still creeping closer! I was sure he knew I was there as I was turning my head quite frequently to see where the others were. By this time I was nothing short of nervous, and when the closest one tried to flank around behind me I fed him a 240 grain hollow point in his rib cage! Needless to say he was done with his stalk and I never saw where the others went as I stayed focused on the one I shot. I really think I was about to become part of a group effort for breakfast. If any of you know much about these animals do you think they followed me in the dark or I just came in amongst'em? At any rate you can bet I pay a little more attention to'em now!

A few years back during bow season, I purchased a fawn bleat. I took it to a sage field where I has a ground blind set and started blowing pleading distress bleats. Sure enough two mature does came charging out of the woods about 150 yards away. I got up on my knees readying my bow and about 80 yards out they stopped coming. The wind was in my face so I knew they didn't smell me. I cupped my hands and looked toward the ground and blew it again. The does started toward me again but at a much slower pace then suddenly turned and launched into the woods. I'm sitting baffled when I notice alot of movement in the sage grass about 100 yds. out. Around 15 coyotes were cruising the field looking for the "fawn in distress". Having only a bow I sat quiet and watched them for a minute maybe. They never quit moving noses to the wind like a bird dog and finally left about the same place the does did. Kinda spooky, make your sphincter draw up a little tight.

Well this happened to a buddy of mine, One morning while he and I were wadding out to the duck hole, We shinned our lights and saw two pair of gator eyes. This was not uncommon and we just kept moving to the duck hole when my friend started screaming "he has got me" and started flopping in the water mind you the water is barely knee deep, well I guess he ralized nothing was pulling on his leg but something deffinetly had a hold of his wader boot, well after a few seconds of calming him and finding out where he was hurting he lifts he legs to see that a beaver trap had a hold of his boot just by the toe and never even got his foot just his boot.

A few years ago I was bowhunting at DNF. It was a afternoon hunt and I was hunting in a swamp area. Just before dark I heard the deer starting to come out or so I thought. Turns out to be hogs. All ages and it got dark and they start snorting and grunting all around me. Keep me in the tree for 2hrs. after dark.

Went to Colorado a few years ago with my dad and some friends. We stayed in a cabin, and the 2nd night there, there was a loud bang on the wall....needless to say, it woke everyone up. I went to the door to see what the commotion was and no one was there. This happened again the same night...by this time everyone in the cabin has a gun in there hand..and no one can sleep....come to find out the next morning there was a couple staying in an adjacent cabin and they knocked the mirror off the wall twice during the night......they were having a good time while there were 4 guys next door with guns in our hands all night.......it was a funny site!

I've heard folks brag about how macho their chessies were, but retrieving a cottonmouth takes the cake. I'm impressed.

The strangest thing that happened to me this last season was that I limited out on the very last day of the Florida season. I was supposed to be in Mississippi but canceled out. I phoned my friend there and told him I was leaving the next day. He said I had better bring some ducks. Man, it must have been bad. So, I tried it at home in North Florida and got the 2 woodies, 2 gadwalls and 2 ringnecks the very last day. I had rather been in the Delta shooting at the greenheads. I hear, ya'll wish you had some greenheads to shoot at. Well, wait til next year.

My buddy and I went to pick up decoys in a rice field near Tallulah two Februarys ago...Walking up to the decoy spread I noticed one of the decoys moving very strangely...I pick the decoy up and there is a GREENHEAD hung up in the decoy line...The line is wrapped 3 times around his left wing so the wing is boogered up but not broken....Otherwise he is fine...
My buddy and I unwrap him, take some pics and shoot some video, then let him go...He swims off to the edge of the rice field, across the field levee and into an adjacent slough...
I sent a copy of the video to "Hunting the Country" but never heard back from them so I guess they did not run it.

I was bowhunting 6 years a go along a dried up ditch in some hardwoods by a pine thicket. Well before dark i heard something comming down the ditch, it was and otter dont know what he was doing there but here he came. i started to shoot but decided not to, now Im glad I didnt. Right behind him was a bobcat, well the 2 of them got just out of site behind some thick stuff about 20 yards from me where I couldnt see em but they tied up fighting I aint never heard all the spitting growling and racket in all my life in the woods. They were really tearing up the ground. Well when it was over in about a minute here comes the bobcat flying by me back up the ditch he went, with the otter chasing him. Well right after they got out of site a doe walked out of the thick stuff from where they had been fighting. I couldn't believe after all that racket that the otter and the bobcat had made that a deer would come out as quickly as she did..... I missed her @ 10 yds. I guess that I was still dumbfounded about the whole thing. I told you guys in a post awhile back a otter was a bad critter to have cornered. He sure put a whipping on the bobcat. I just wished I could have seen them fighting.
