Vandy, teal, and my weekend

Wow. What a weekend! UM gets bitch slapped by Vandy and Cutler, I crap out on the teal, and work my ass off in 90+ degree heat for 2 days on a duck camp outdoor project, losing at least 10-15 lbs of water weight while trying to fend off dehydration and exhaustion ---finally being able to piss again late Sunday night. Only the company of good friends all weekend salvaged my bruised psyche.
In a word, my Rebs SUCK! I'm not going to sugar coat it. After two games, we look pretty much like .......well......last season.
Pretty much the same players, the same type of team weaknesses, and the same results ----so far.
The only difference this season is that our kicking game now sucks as bad as our defense and offense. At least we are now consistently bad throughout all areas of the team.
The ONLY rays of hope so far have been the improved play at the QB position, the return game, and the emergence of a few "big play guys" actually making big plays---Spurlock, Espy, McSwain and Kendrick. Otherwise, same ol same ol ----dropped passes on critical third downs, missed tackles and assignments on defense, lack of a running game, etc. etc. YUCK!!!
To add to the misery, while building a pole barn extension out in the mid-day heat on Saturday, while listening to the game, I had to listen to Billie Ray Fann pulling for Vandy. He obviously had no idea what danger he was in as I often had a hammer, shovel or sledgehammer in my hand.
I think I have now reached the final phase of my 12 step recovery plan from Ole Miss football dominated weekends. Progress, though painful, has been made. I did not even watch the game on the tube this weekend, opting for duck camp work and the radio instead. And after this loss, it will be much easier to skip a home game/tailgate or two this year and do something else. The cure is in sight. A home loss to Wyoming this weekend may be the final straw.
