Hey, Duckmen, do you hunt out of a Argo sometimes? May be wrong (I know I was once before), but I think I recognize two of those places and have talked, on occasion, to the folks who hunt them regularly.

Hey JOhn don't even think about trying to find that one. If I know wes and his crew it's hard as hell to find and takes about 2 hrs. to get to it. HEHEHEHEHe

Well John what are you calling a permanent blind. If you consider branches stuck in the mud permanent then yes. However the game wardens don't. You cannot build a structure in the WMA that use any material that is not natural. If you look closely you will see we hunt out of a boat blind and have simply stuck a few willow branches down in front of our blind to thicken what natural cover was already there. We pull floating logs and pile them up to make a dog platform. We have had others to beat us to this spot and just went somewhere else to hunt. We can't claim that spot as ours.
Now if you build a blind out of lumber and use netting and the like to hide behind that is considered a permanent blind. This I know from past encounters with the game wardens.
We will never use any man made materials except on our boat, which comes out with us each hunt.
Interesting that you thought of this in that we have had people in the past to make that same complaint to the game wardens and yet they check us out there every season and have never had a problem with the setup.
We use this same setup in three WMA's, I have seen some guys use cain to help to hide, I don't like cain as it turns bright yellow and sticks out too much. This group that hunts down from us in panther seems to do well with it.

Nawteek nice to hear from you again. Yeah that is not like that hole in Twin Oaks but that hole in T.O. didn't yield but about 5 birds and only a couple were edible. BUT we have found a couple of more holes there that have potential if we ever get a year when the water gets this high again. But as we have noted T.O. seems to be on a down hill slide as far a duck hunting goes. It seems to have fewer ducks every year we go up there. Man I would give anything to have it like it was about 5 years ago it was some fun hunting. We have been trying the rez here in the past couple of seasons and have found some nice places there but this was not the year for the rez as we all know. Good to hear from you and let me know when yall are going rabbit hunting have never done it and would like to try it been told it is one hell of a time with a good group of dogs.
