Does anyone know the correct ring position for shooting light loads with this gun? It will shoot one shell but, not eject the second when shooting low brass shells. Help...

off the top of my head without looking at mine, its one brass ring and the brake(black ring). But for the for sure answer go to browning website and under frequently asked questions. PS I love my A5 mag. Finally found one last year in great shape for $400. Put new stock and forearm and new inv+ barrel and killed the heck out of some ducks last year. I think I shot better than ever with that gun than any year with my 870.

You got 5 rings on there........first of all, check to make sure you have them in the correct order.

Starting just above the recoil spring.....

a black ring (flat side toward the recoil spring)
a bronze ring
2 black rings (flat side back-to-back)
another bronze ring

For light loads.....take the top 3 rings off.

If you forget the order all you have to do is remember this.....

the flat side of black rings only go back-to-back or against the recoil spring.
bronze rings never touch each other and never go against the recoil spring
bronze rings only mate-up to the barrel lug or to the angled face of a black ring

Make sure that recoil spring has plenty of Hoppe's gun grease on it or it won't work with light loads. :wink:

Remember where you stash the other rings.

Anatidae's got you strait but here's Dan's "Gun Disassembly/ Maintenance". Pictures and other stuff. I got the light 12 and the 3" magnum. If you don't keep your rings right you'll crack the forearm for sure. Firing the heavey loads on the light setting very much will sure do it.

I made a mistake earlier......I said make sure recoil spring has enough grease on it........I meant grease the heck outa the magazine tube.

Brass/bronze rings never go against a flat surface.......easy to keep it straight that way.

Bust a few clays for ME, 'hole hunter'......I'll get to the range one of these days. :roll:
