Last day, Shot 2 Ringnecks, lost 3 in the morning. You're right Dos Gris, if those suckers hit the water still alive, they will disappear on ya. Yesterday afternoon, shot the only Merganser that came in. I ended the season with a Hooded Merganser! I can't believe I'm going to have to think about this for the rest of the year. Come on November and the AR duck season, hurry up and get here!
Actually, I'm not complaining, I ended up with a combined group effort of 159 ducks out of 44 days, even opened my second case of shells last week. I'm really just thankful to have an opportunity to get to hunt as often as I like.
This season probably wasn't what most of us had hoped for, especially after having been spoiled for the last couple of years, I think it's the little things that make it all worth while. I had one really nice hunt in NW MS about three weeks ago. Three of us literally shot everything that came in, thanks Hambone. I got to see a lot of new real estate this year. I only got really wet once this season about a month ago. Got a little damp with Mallardchaser on the way out the other day. I swamped my boat picking up decoys last Friday. Luckily, I was able to drive out safely. I saw a magnificent sunset driving home one evening with Captain Duck. Even though Softcall and I both got skunked last Monday, we both agreed it was better than being at work.
Cheers!
