Not sure if you fellow duck hunters know that one of the South's legenday waterfowl hunters, Dr. Chubby Andrews, passed away yesterday in Memphis. Born in 1921 Dr. Andrews had been closely entwined in the life of Nash Buckingham and Beaver Dam Club in Tunica.

Dr. Andrews authored "Nash Buckingham, Beaver Dam and Other Hunting Tales.

Got the call yesterday bout that, hated to hear. That's the passin of a great man, legendary hunter and conservationist, not to mention one helluva shot. Last winter he came down for a few days hunting and you could tell he had slowed down a lot, but at 82 you expect that. Last time he was here he noticed I had a Legacy of Beaver Dam print that I haven't framed yet that he autographed and wrote me a special message on. if any of ya'll have never read Beaver Dam and Other Hunting Tales you oughta try to. knowing most in the book & even huntin with some of em made it one of those books you can't put down till ya thru for me. Just like Dr. Chubby it's a real huntin classic

Great book!!! What about the story when his son saw another group shoot down a ghead while hunting on the great lakes. They did try to even look for it b\c it was too far. When they left he walked all the way over there, found it and bam a $100 bone reward band.

I have read his books, a very goos sportsman.

I happened to sit next to Dr. Andrews at a Church luncheon last summer, and I could tell he was getting near his end. He and I discussed his book on Beaver Dam, and I mentioned that I was looking for another copy but couldn't find one in the bookstores. A few days later one arrived in the mail with a nice personal note inside the front cover.

He was a nice man, and a true representative of the "class act" that the sport of duck hunting was before it became commercialized activity.
