Canada Geese Problem

I just planted 4 acres of brown top millet and since it is close to my pond, I am expecting the geese to wander over and start pulling up the green sprouts of millet. I have counted 27 on occasion and they do not even run from you when you walk by. They do occasionally move to a neighbors pond, but seem to like mine more. I'm looking for answers on how to deal with these crapping geese. Give me some solutions!

And thanks for your help.

Believe it or not, there are actually a "goose repellents" on the market. I believe it is applied by spraying the product over the designated control area. The plant absorbs the chemical, allegedgy without harm, and translocates it to the foliage giving it a bitter taste. I have no idea of how effective it is, but it sounds logical.

Check with the manufacturer to see how long the chemical remains at an effective level in the plant or if it will affect the seed. I'm assuming this is intended to be consumed by wildlife after it has been matured. Let me know if you try it. I'd be interested in the results.

I sick the dogs on the ones I have around here. They are pretty smart and have figured where the underground fence is and move around it. Just to keep em honest I take the collars off and let the dogs get after them good every now and again. All it does is keep them in my neighbors yards but isn't that waht neighbors are for?
