Tenn Tom Report 1/21/02

Postby msdawg » Tue Jan 22, 2002 7:50 am

I went to the bottom north of old 78 yesterday afternoon about 5:00 to check on the water levels. The channel was still out and the river was still pushing water through most of the sloughs. I amazed to see mallards for the first time in the flooded bean fields. There were probably a 100 or so in one spot and another 40 in our hole. I walked in to make sure our dekes were still in place and watched all of the ducks come back in. A little after 5 someone came in the fields in a boat and ran the ducks up again. This is a good sign, we haven't had any mallards all year. And we have had several overflows. Normally everytime the river is out we have ducks. I guess I will just have to wait and see what happens the rest of the week with the ran.

More ducks in the same place this evening. Talked to some of guys that did pretty good this morning (1/22) also. Looks like there maybe some new ducks in the bottom. But the way it is pouring down out there now, we will have way to much water to hunt them this weekend.

Glad to hear there are finally some ducks in the area. I haven't hunted my Tenn-Tom hole this year due to the high-water and bad reports. Maybe I will slip over there before the season is out. Thanks for the report.

Gonna have so much water probably won't be able to hunt. But if you aren't in the Delta this weekend give me a shout. I'm in the book.
