Was gone 3 days killed around 50 (5-8 coveys a day). Very slow year the locals of Matador and Paduca Texas said. They said it has been such a slow season due to a bad hatch which was due to little rain. There were guys there from South Carolina, Mississippi, Georgia Etc... all doing less than us. I really enjoyed it though. Real quail hunting is something I really wish was better in Mississippi. I am looking forward to next year if the hatch is better! Thank you for all the great tips they came in handy.
Signed almost a pin cushion....

Everytime I went, it was a year with a poor hatch. That is the story of my life!
(1) You should have been here yesterday!
(2) You should have been here and not there!
(3) you should have been doing it this way and not that way! Jack
Shoot them sprigs on their first pass!

Texas is the first place that I have hunted where they do not chase singles, I have been to North part of Indiana, Kansas, and S. Dakota but if I had my chose for Quail, I would go back to Texas even on a bad year.

Not real sure if that is some sort of marketing ploy to get me to come back or not? Those towns out there are bad off. I would say their survival for some would depend on the hunters??
