I got an invite to the hoot owl fest this weekend. Is anybody else going and what exactly is it?

NEVER HEARD OF IT! where is it? i can hoot purty good myself...might needs to "get my hoot on"

The Hoot Owl is a get together up at Lake Albermarle just North of Vicksburg. It actually takes place at a metal building just off the edge of the MS River Levees around Tri-County Hunting Club. It is an annual event beginning about 2-3 pm Saturday and usually consists of massive beer drinking, cooking, music, and a Hoot Owl Calling Contest. The cooking usually includes crawfish, catfish, hushpuppies, slaw etc... The climax of the event is the famed "Hoot Owl Calling Contest" beginning around dark or so. At the end of the night (around 9-10 pm) awards are given out to people who have been deemed "the most drunk", among other things. But if you don't win this award, fear not, there are other awards to be won. All and All, it is a worthwhile experience.

WARNING: DO NOT BRING YOUR WIFE/GIRLFRIEND. IF YOU DO SO, YOU WILL BE CUSSED BY ALL THE FOUNDERS/ATTENDEES OF THIS EVENT AND FORCED TO LEAVE.

The Hoot has been going for about 20 years.....great gathering of guys ...starts Thursday....seting out trout lines....in many of the lakes around ......Butch Newman started it years ago...lots of guys from around Newton area and lots of coaches..

It has been being held up at TRI-COUNTY HUNTING CLUB....just off the levee about 3-4 miles north of Dents on albarmar....sp....

I will most likely get over sat......not but 14 miles from my camp...

Just checked the river.......there will be lots of folks headed that way because the mississippi river has started droping.....will start pulling water out of chotard...albarmar...steel bayou....little sunflower and the sunflower......the weather man has reduced rain to friday only...cooler Sat...

So sounds like a great time to be had up at the Hoot....

I am planning on bein there. Ben one time before, goodness was it fun. We normally go to the bar afterwards to try find some women cuz he was right aint many at the contest!
