Just wondering how the hunting has been here. Wondering if the duck numbers are up any from what they were in December. Have a hunt there 1/12 and any info would be appreciated.

I used to hunt there shortly after the ponds were abandoned. It was some of the finest hunting around at that time. At that time they had grown up with ample moist soils plants and had a good many willows to use as cover. Had some spectacular early season teal hunts there. Limits in 10 minutes. I had some input when the Corps bought them pertaining to making it a quality hunting WMA. It may not be much this year as everything was short notice for the MDWFP but look for it to be a great place to hunt in the future.

Duck numbers are about the same as Dec. Hunting, in my opinion, has been poor to fair.

Hunted it saturday and killed no ducks. Basically the place is a roost and the ducks leave before shooting hours and who knows when they return. We should have killed more but had to deal with the inevidable problem of skybusters and people who dont want anyont to have success. One group shot at a pair of greys that were dropping hard on our dekes when they were at least 100 yards from the other hunters. But I guess some people just havent been tought right. Muscadine is a nice place I just wish the state would plant forage.
