I hunt in flooded cypress/tup. gum brake south of Greenwood. Wednesday morning me and two other guys had an Eagle Land in a tree about 30 yards from us. It sat there for about 5 min. then took off. The hunt was very slow so that was cool. I saw one in Montana while floating the Bitteroot about two years ago but I didn't know that they were in Miss.

They migrate through. There are still a few local birds around eagle lake but most of the eagles seen are migratory birds.
If you are ever around Noxubee Refuge in Dec and Jan. go to the Lokafoma lookout and stay there for a while with some good binoculars. Last time I was there we saw either 3 or 4 (2 years ago).

we saw a few in ne arkansas a few weeks ago. They were eating dead ducks. Those things are a lot bigger than I thought they were.

There are several in NE MS, I have seen them fishing at Arkabutla, Sardis (they closed off a whole northern creek section, Blackwater, several years ago because there were breeding pairs nesting there) and at Flower Lake. I wasn't aware that they migrate??????

Prolly some eagles at Noxubee Refuge now. I have also seen eagles nesting at Aliceville along the Tenn Tom waterway.

I saw one in Oct. when I was working on my blind, around Coffeyville MS. Definately kewl!

Oh well, I thought I would get to be some special redneck on the news that spotted an Eagle! I am kidding, but I really did not know that there were any in Miss. Thanks for the reply's guys. Also I thought I would change the obvious subject of bellyaching at hand. I know my wife is sick of hearing me complain about the damn ducks, or lack of.

My wife and I saw a mature bald eagle in one of our cypress brakes in Coahoma County on the Sunday before New Years day. We see them occasionally during the duck season, but normally they are present when the ducks are around in full force...I'll bet this one didn't stay long!

There is a pair that nest near Slidell, where I live. They have nested there for many years. In Louisiana they start to nest in November. They add to their nest each year. The one here is taller than I am. I am 6'6". They are big beautiful birds. Jack

Hey something we have in East TN that you don't (Eagles). Wouldn't mind trading you a few for a couple ducks. We usually don't see any until about November then you can go out and see them pretty regular around the river until about March. Last year I was riding around with some friends and drove under a tree that had three mature eagles in it. Pretty neat seeing that many in one tree.

YEARS AGO WHILE GUIDEING ON REELFOOT, THEY
USED TO SIT UP IN CERTAIN TREES.
THEY WERE USED TO THE GUN FIRE AND DIDNT MIND IT, MATTER OF FACT, THERE WAS ONE GIANT
EAGLE THAT WE CALLED THE GENERAL. IF IVE SEEN ONCE , IVE SEEN IT A THOUSAND TIMES; WE WOULD SHOULD SHOOT AND SOMETIMES CRIPLE A DUCK, HE MAY SAIL OFF A WAYS BEFORE HITTING THE WATER...GUESS WHO WOULD LEAVE HIS POST AND GET A FREE DINNER? YEP, THEY WOULD COME DOWN AND GRAB THE DUCK LIKE IT WAS NOTHING, FLY BACK UP TO HIS POST AND EAT A GREENHEAD RIGHT BEFORE YOUR EYES!!!

Have seen a few in Decembers past on Pickwick lake. Went to Wyoming a couple weeks ago and saw bunches. Got some great black and whites of one and some great video of two others soaring about a mile above a canyon. Watched the two for about fifteen minutes and never saw a wing beat! Miraculous! Also watched seven of them feed on the ground with some buzzards on a dead cow. I didn't know that they would scavenge.

First timer here. well i just had to join in on this one. I've seen several in Meridian and also near the Alabama st line in Aliceville. They are great to watch since you don't see them very often.

Seen a few myself over the years hunting in the Delta. Not going to say where for fear the feds would declare the areas off limits to hunting, fishing or other activities that allegedly would "disturb" the eagles. They are quite impressive to see and watch.
